Replaced broken manifold stud

Well it finally happened after 166k, my passenger side broke a stud. After reading how hard it can be I was very surprised at how easy it was to fix and only took about 2hrs. I am lucky I only had one break and I had to use a stick welder. Here are a few pics. No more tick. Used felpro gaskets and doorman bolts.

Trust me when I say it will be back, I've had my passenger side done twice and my drivers side once but I'm going to have to have it done again as the upper aft bolt broke off again. I'm getting tired of this crap and will have to find a better solution. Good luck.

I changed both sides the past weekend. 3 broken studs in total. I also did the welding nut trick worked like a charm. I kept my old manifolds as they are "seasoned" and if it happens again I will get the old ones milled straight and put them back on. This will stop it from happening again.

If the OE manifolds are not milled/sanded flat, they most likely will break again.

So far 5k and holding strong. Just need to last long enough to get a Cummings.
