New member here. Picked up a 2018 Ram 1500 Crew Cab last week and purchased a set of Ionic 5" Oval nerf bars from realtruck.com. After installation I feel like they dont sit close enough to the body, they hang low and stick out, show all of the hardware etc.... Ive been doing research but cant find exactly what Im looking for. Im looking for something close to mopar, oem style that sits high and tight, around 4 or 5" What are you guys running that fit this description? Thanks!

Check out NFab.

The problem with step bars that are too close to the body is that you end up kicking the rocker panel when trying to get a full foot on some of the bars.

I installed some 3M Clear bra on my rocker panels for that reason

For my Express QC, I installed the Westin Automotive Products 28-51040 Stainless Steel R5 Nerf Step Bar bought off Amazon.

The R5 is 5" wide, the R7 is 7" wide. I like the 5" but they are a little tight in. If you like to get a full foot on the board stepping out, not just half your foot, then go with 7". The come in black or polished aluminum; I liked polished aluminum to complement the chrome wheels.

I have the OEM boards and they fit fairly close but not too close! I have big feet size 13 and no issues kicking the Rockers.

Thanks for all the replies, I will get some pics up in a little bit of my install... Ive only seen one review on this forum of the Ionic bars I just installed and the owner said the same thing. I like all of the options you guys posted and will check them out.

Heres some pics of my install, I apologize in advance for the quality and size. To me these stick too far out and hang to low, and with all of the hardware visible (black bars, gold bolts, washers etc...) the supports look flimsy and cheap. Input welcome, maybe Im being too dramatic.

Mopar OEM wheel to wheel is what I went with for the same reason

I like how they’re not too far away from the body and the mounting brackets have nice cover trim panels so it doesn’t expose the actual metal piece itself. Gives a real clean look.

Thats the fit Im looking for. Im going to take it to a local truck shop sometime this week to see if they can alter the brackets or even if Ionic has an alternative bracket that would bring my current boards a little up and in. If not, yours are these, correct?

Just not wheel to wheel and chrome. And the reason I havent researched Mopar more is because I was trying to save a few bucks of course :banghead:

Hi All. Not Trying to Hi-Jack , Just a question.
Ordered Running boards for my Crew and I think they sent for a Quad or earlier crew. Two Brackets on them that Mount to Body Mounts and Rockers. The Brackets come up about a foot short of mounts. Any Thoughts.
