Transitioning from an '06 to the new (to me) '14. Came with a goody bag box of odds and ends (old trim clips, screws, you know how it goes). There was a plastic shield that I realized is top to my S&B box. Is there any reason NOT to reattach it? I would rather have it on to avoid hotter air and grime, but was stopped by the thought of "If [former owner] had it off and still kept it, maybe there was something wrong with having it on."

Apologies if this is mentioned somewhere, I tried to crawl through threads to answer this but didn't get anywhere

Maybe the noise was cooler with it off? Put it on and see what changes, I doubt it could or will hurt anything. After all it came with it for a reason.

Open CAIs do sound a little louder than the closed ones... but you would have to clean it more often :)

As long as the previous owner didn’t close off the other openings on the box for some reason, I’d reattach it if the four screws are present. It was most likely removed for louder sound.
