I was like that when I had my HC 5.7, I was really discouraged with the issue and my 426. It's been close to 2 yrs and I'm thinking of redoing my HC set up and being my old PB of 12.4 and wanting to beat my 5.7L NA best of 12.34

If u love the sport you'll always be back just have to do it smarter and learn from old mistake and learn the new ways to do things from other people mistakes

THIS! Is the reason I absolutely refuse to modify my daily driver in any way outside of the most basic of trinkets. I loved this truck when I bought it, and I friggin hate self imposed issues, so stock it is! I have a toy Jeep I am fearless with, and I swear because I have no dependency on it of any kind, it never, EVER breaks.

I had a similar issue with my shocks. I dropped it at a shop right next to where I work. I got a call telling me it was going to be a boat load of money because they couldn't get the tower bolt loose, and it was going to require all kinds of crap. i told them to leave it alone. That Saturdy, I reached in with a knife and cut the piston shroud off, clamped vice grips on it, and out it came. Morons...
