Friend burned up his Hemi engine by of all things a plugged oil pick up screen. Yes when I quizzed him he ignored all the warning signs that would have saved a lot of heart ache. Anyway found specialty shop that is used to rebuilding engines due to sucked valve problem and they were thrilled to get a core that was intact (short some bearings). Put the rebuild in and everything is great except the idle is too low and occasionally stalls. It is an automatic and I am hesitant to replace the idle air control without being more certain. It is not throwing any codes. Can anyone help?

Not having any codes makes it tough but here are a few things you could check.

Make sure the MAP sensor is hooked up and the o-ring is seated.

Make sure the two vacuum lines on the throttle body are connected.

Check the grounds.

Check the battery.

Try resetting the throttle body: disconnect the battery and touch pos and neg cables together. Reconnect battery. Turn key to on position but don't start the engine. Leave key on for ten seconds then turn off. Start the truck. Some guys here have added a separate ground wire to the throttle body to smooth out the idle.

Check the transmission fluid level.

Intake manifold gasket leak?

:welcome:

yea I don't know why they set idle so low (550). I say get a programmer and raise it... my idle is 850 but i do stall once in a while :)
