So I've spent about 4 hours scouring the internet for everything i can think of. "Transmission cover, Transmission cover plate, Transmission flex plate cover plate." etc but absolute zilch. I would love a blow apart parts diagram, or a microfiche, but the internet doesn't believe in that either. ... So here I am.

In between the oil pan and the transmission there is a plate of metal that bolts to the transmission and covers the flex plate. I'm missing that, so you can see directly into my transmission. I can take a picture later if that helps anyone but if you've done transmission work then you've taken off this plate before.

What is it called?
(It's not called the Flex Plate Cover, or Dust Seal)

if your missing it dude honestly get some tin snips and some sheet metal cut it to size run a bead of RTV around the outside and run some self tappers up into the existing hole in the bell housing! you could even drill holes in the sheet metal and get the right bolts to do it right. but yah i agree with the guy above me its called the inspection cover.....might mean your trans/engines been pulled at some point
