My work neighbor has a recent model jeep SRT with a pretty open exhaust. When he is heavy on the throttle and shifting it sounds like a thunder clap each time. You can hear him getting on the highway and going down the highway for like a mile lol.
My 21 ram 5.7 with x pipe and 2 single chambers will make this noise once in a while. Almost rarely but sometimes twice in a ride but I cannot replicate it on demand. Its almost always after a kickdown to pass someone then on the next upshift I will get a nice brapp or clap.
But like I said I cant make it do it on demand.
What is the explication behind this? Is it in the transmission programming shifting so fast it creates a shockwave in the exhaust?

i love that sound its in the factory tune its a engine torque management thing it cuts off fuel when shifting creating that sound also when decelerating creating that popping sound..

Yup, it's the computer pulling power during the shift. Keeps things smooth and kind to the transmission, it also cuts down the time it takes the shift to occur.
