Hi

I recently had a bunch of work done on my 2017 1500. 4 inch BDS lift, wheels, 35s, new CVs, struts ect. Drives lovely and looks great except for one issue, there is a thumping sound that comes from the front driver side from time to time, it seems to start if I hit a manhole cover, railroad tracks-anything with a bump. It eventually stops until the next bump in the road. I’m super confused. Have the shop taking a look next week when they are open but I’m curious what you think it may be? I climbed under and didn’t see or feel anything out of the ordinary although I am admittedly not very mechanical. https://files.fm/u/qymvf442ae

Something is loose. Check the upper shock bolts maybe?

Thank you for responding. I will check that in daylight tomorrow. Would that sort of thing start up from hitting a bump in the road?

Without getting my hands on it myself it’s impossible to say for sure but it’s certainly possible. The shock is supposed to dampen out the bouncing, so if the shock is loose it would just thud around in the shock tower instead.

If you just added a lift kit, there was a lot of suspension work done, most of it being done from underneath the vehicle. The shock tower bolts are the one thing you do from the engine bay so it’s possible they were missed.

Just gave a good look again including what you said. I couldn’t find anything that caught my eye or ear. It’s going to the shop tomorrow but I really had hoped to narrow down what it may be so I don’t have them send me away saying all good. The sound and feel under my foot is something wonky.
