Around the beginning of this summer, I will be looking at getting a new truck. I currently have an 04 2500 5.7l Hemi and love it... she has treated me very well. I am only getting a new truck because im ready for a change. I want a newer truck... like an 09 1500/150. I'm open minded to most brands (Dodge, Chevy, and Ford... maybe GMC). The truck I buy will have low miles... 40k-59k. I want to do something simpler than I have now. Just lift, tires, and wheels. For lift I want to do about a 4" suspension on 35" tires. For wheels I want to do 20x14s or 22x14 (yes I know of the stress on hubs and bearings theses wheels put on the truck, please don't come here to explain it to me). That's basically it.. no re-gear, no engine mods.. nothing else. I will probably only drive the truck for 10k miles and then go to something else. In yalls opinion, would their be a 4x4 half ton truck that's stands above the rest in a setup like this? I really want to stay with a dodge but if their is a better option I will try to take that route. Thanks guys

P.S.: please don't be biased. I know I am on a dodge forum lol. And don't tell me how I will need to re gear and how I should by a 2500 for a setup like this and so on. I understand this... but on my budget, this is the route I will be taking.

Strongest suspension? Dont think I understand, seems like if your running 20x14 on 35x12.50's then you probably wouldnt be doing any offroading, thus not putting alot of stress on the suspension? Im confused bro lol

No offroading at all. But I want something reliable. In my opinion, I should be fine driving any truck with that low of miles, as a daily for 10k on 14wides. But I'm just asking if anyone has had experience with wide wheels on the newer ifs suspensions. My past two trucks have been SFA and that's all I know.
I just need strong steering linkage, wheel hubs, ball joints, etc. I'd hate to have to replace them shortly after lift and tires/wheels

I have never done any suspension repairs on mine except tierod recall. I also did shocks and struts as upgrade. You will get a bias answer because if I did not believe in Ram then I would not be here. If you are buying new I believe the 2014 Ram has even stronger frame and less weight too. If it were me and I planned to lift the truck I would go with 2500 or bigger.

That's what I figured. Gonna try to make a deal on a new gen ram, 5.7L with a small lift already on it.

I ran 4" lift, 20x12s and 33s on my last truck and still rubbed. If I were to run x14s and 35s Id want atleast 8". Just saying.

I agree, the 2014 trucks seem to be great and I would love to have a 2500 Cummins 6.7..... but money doesn't grow on trees! Lol

Like was kind of hinted to above, you should be looking at what truck will allow you to run that kind of setup.
On these trucks (4th gen 1500's) 33's are about as big as you can go with x12's with 4" lift
If you want 35's on x12's you need 6".

Much less x14's.

Even with a shorter offset? Guess it kind of sucks on trucks. Need to lift it high enough to clear the wheel well. One good thing about a Jeep. Running 35x12.5's on a 2.5" lift. :)

You know we can run 35x12.50 on 2" level right? Lol

do you think with a 6" lift I could pull off x14's with like 13.50 tire? Rubbing is okay, as long as the truck is functional lol

not sure the specs, but we have a customer who did a 6" lift with a 3" body lift is running 20x14's with 15.5" wide tires that are almost 36.5" tall and he still had to some trimming to get it to not rub real bad, I believe the offset was -76mm on the rim, they stuck out pretty far, looks good but not real functional IMO, however he does not do any off roading with it and is very happy with the way it all came out :)
