I bought a used Canadian built RAM REBEL SPORT 1500 5.7L HEMI. It had 46,000 miles on it and I believe I got a real good deal from the Chevy dealer who sold it to me along with extended warranty. I did not understand the " UConnectsystem so I went to the local Dodge/RAM Dealership to see if they could explain it to me. The Service Manager told me that since my truck was built in Canada, I would not be allowed to have any Mopar parts used on it and all waranties were invalid. I spenta lot of time on the phone bouncing around U.S. and Canadian UConnect to no avail. Then with RAM USA and RAM Canada. Finally, I was told to simply connect my android phone to the truck and low and behold! I can use Google maps, Spotify and other tasks.
Now, I'm confused about wheather or not to select 8th gear for the MDS drop to 4 cyl. Eco mode or just allow the truck to perform as designed. Advice???? Oh, my Chevy dealer says the warranties are through them and they will use MOPAR parts as I requested rather than after market parts.

Not allowed to use any Mopar parts on it? :anitoof: Or what? They gonna kick your ass? Take away your birthday?
funny-seinfeld.gif

they can go sit on a post, you can install whatever parts you like.

The factory 3 year 30,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is already invalid, because it's more than 3 years old and has more than 30,000 miles.

The factory 5 year 60,000 mile powertrain warranty is already invalid, because the truck is more than 5 years old.

Yes.
And change the oil every 3000 to 5000 miles. When you get to 3000, start looking for an opportunity. If you haven't done it by 5000, consider it a priority and stop procrastinating.

Exactly. It saddens me a little that the people at a Chevy dealer sound normal, and the people at a Ram dealership sound ********.

You bought a used truck, and the OEM factory warranties are invalid anyway because it's too old. Any warranty is now between you and the dealer who sold you the truck.

The service manager you spoke with at the Ram dealership has had is distributor rotated too far clockwise. He is, as they say in the south, ********. Bless his heart. Did you ask him what specific enforcement mechanism he has in mind, should you decide to use Mopar parts on it anyway. :anitoof:

Just how big an ole boy was he?

Other then the radio and daytime running lights,Canuck and US trucks are identical.Just because it came from Canada doesn't mean you have to drive it any differantly then you would a truck built for the US market

Drive it, maintain it with quality fluids and filters and enjoy the truck.

My 2013 is Canadian. I kinda dig the running lights. It came with an engine block heater too.

I didn't know the Canadian radio was different. I updated it with the US update software back in like, 2019-2020'ish, then added the Nav unlock code thing around 2022. It seems to still work pretty good.

What is different?

My instrument cluster also shows MPH on the outside, and KPH on the inside, just like the US trucks. I wonder if maybe some parts got swapped out to the US versions before I bought it.

Basically just the U Connect/Nav is differant, and no 911 calling. When you swapped yours over to the US software did you get the ability to make a 911 call with it Ken?
The majority of Canuck trucks come with a block heater,to offset our warm winters :Big Laugh:

I didn't switch anything. I bought it at a used car lot here in Washington. Anything that was switched was either done by a previous owner, or the used car lot I bought it from.

I didn't even know the radio would be different. I just downloaded the update from the forum thread here on Ramforum, and ran it. It updated successfully. I didn't even think about the radio being different, or that in might need a Canada specific update.

I live 5 miles from the Canuckistan border. Pretty mild winters over hear by Abbotsford. All we have to worry about is our bi-annual "historic" "100 year" floods.

The lower mainland isn't really Canadian when it comes to winters, lol. Damn you're right next door to Mission which is one of the best tracks in Canada with only being 25 ft above sea level, lol. If i didn't hate the traffic out there, and BC's gas prices,i'd come over for a visit :Big Laugh:

Any time.

Yea, traffic sucks from Vancouver, or Seattle. And as bad as the gas tax is here in WA, there are tons of Canadians crossing to get gas on our side, so I imagine it must be really bad in Canada.

That, and oddly, milk & cheese. I always wonder what gives, with the Canadians piling their trunks and back seats with milk jugs and cheese before heading back north. The last time I was at Costco, I was behind a Canadian guy three carts of milk and cheese. I just guessed that it's more expensive up there.

I love going up to Abbotsford though. And they put on a great air show.

Last time that I was in Seattle was 1962. That seems like a lifetime ago, well, maybe it was. The Worlds Fair was in full swing there back then and I won a trip by being a good paper boy.

It might be easier if you just moved to the US and did not have to deal with Canadian regulations.

^^^ That stuff is just syrup. Nothing maple about it. :laughing1:

There is a bunch of brands of real natural maple syrup out there and it should say so on the bottle.

I haven't tried this stuff but when I was a kid the kind my Gram used to get came in a good old fashioned can just like it.
