I've just picked up a 2016 1500 quad cab SLT. Chrome grill, door handles and bumpers but mirrors and window trim are black. It is not lifted high but is quite high for the Mrs and kids to climb aboard. I'm looking at nerf bars online and can't decide what would look best between a matte black (I generally prefer) or chromed, which would match the bumpers and grill. I don't want them to stand out... I want them to blend in and look natural on the truck which is otherwise 100% stock SLT.

Any advice on that? I guess on the style in general? I'd be installing myself and not looking to spend more than 200-300 bucks if possible.

Thanks!

I would go with the black.

I know the voices in my head aren’t real, but man, do they ever come up with some great ideas.

If you had body color bumpers, I would say Black. But since you have chrome, I would say chrome steps (and maybe upgrade to chrome wheels or chrome wheelskins).

I like my Westin Nerf bars

I would say chrome to but black wouldn't be that bad either. Whichever you pick, get stainless steel or aluminum. Regular mild or carbon steel will rust within a few years. I had two sets rust on me with my old Ram. I just put a set of Lund stainless black ones on today. Pics are in this thread.

Any particular manufacturer/model you'd recommend?

I don’t have any yet, so I can’t recommend any, but since you want to blend in rather then stand out the black will do that better as chrome will stand out more.

I have these by Havoc... absolutely love them. Wasn't sure, since I have so much chrome on my truck stock, but got them anyways. I was afraid it would be too much to get these same steps in chrome. Could not be happier with the results. Like them so much, I'm looking at getting some black/machined wheels to further change the look of the truck.

I ended ordering some powder coated aluminum ones from Jegs. When I'm not on my phone I'll paste a link showing which ones. Pretty straightforward flat bars with textured grip on the top.

There were some really nice looking ones along the style you just posted that bulge out for the steps but they either required drilling holes in the rocker panel or were too much money.

I'll update with photos once I've got them on.

I’m thinking about some like that for my truck.
