I don't know if everyone already knows this, but I have a tip for those who cannot lock their tailgates. A cheap hose clamp placed around the right hand side hinge pivot point will prevent the tailgate from being lifted off easily. The ones I have put on in the past I ground the screw head on the clamp off so it cant be unscrewed. It isn't in the way and is barely noticeable. Hope this tip helps.

yes u can drop tailgate. The hose clamp goes around the part that when u open tailgate about halfway, and pull up on the right side, it comes off the truck. There is a round part that goes over the "pin" that holds tailgate on. Once u see that come off u will see where to put the clamp. Just slip it over the round part and put tailgate back on, then tighten clamp. Then u wont be able to remove the tailgate because the clamp will "block" the pin.

if u dont want to grind the screw part off so it will still be removable, then put the screw part of clamp facing downward and tighten it from under the bumper with a long flathead or nut driver. That will make it a little more difficult for someone to unscrew it quickly.
