Hey lads,

Carl's the name, from Wellington New Zealand. I found this site via Google, and thought I'd join up and check it out! Below is what I call; The Batram. There is too much too list and I don't want to bore you all to tears so I'll just let the photos do the talking lol. It's a 2006 Dodge Ram SRT/10 Night Runner Edition. For anyone interested, you can see more at my website: http://www.carlwalski.com

For the record, I'm not into "Batman" per se, yes he's cool etc but what I REALLY like are his gadgets and more importantly, his vehicles. The whole dark, mysterious, sinister theme is kick **** in my opinion. I'm not arrogant enough to think everyone likes my ride and know it's not everyones cup of tea but I sure as hell love it and hope fellow custom builders can appreciate the work I have put in to it. :) Looks like lots of awesome rides on this forum and good people, awesome stuff!

Cheers,
Carlwalski

Haha yea yours is def nice! I just got my truck not to long ago but doesn't compare to yours lol I'm goin for the blacked out look with red accents. Gotta get the wheels powder coated to get rid o the aluminum lip. Other than that I pretty well did most of the blacking out. Oh and the exhaust tips are next. I'm pretty lazy so I take my sweet time haha here's mine.

Thanks brother! ;) Nope, not really, because you're going for the red accent them I think you've done well enough. I would definitely look at incorporating the red into the rims. Either by lug nut cap covers (red) or the centre cap to break it up. I have a white custom 3D/decal on my centre cap, double glossed over to break up the rim. Also, maybe trying to get a few more smaller red "accents" in to make the red flow better. Having 1 or 2 red items won;t flow as much as 5-7 subtle/classy red touches, if that makes sense.

The thing I have always told people who "black out trucks" or as some call it "murdering out" vehicles is there are 2 ways to do it. 1) all the way. 2) not at all lol. Time and time again I see "blacked out vehicles" but they let themselves down by not doing it 100% and that's how you achieve the best look. Leaving items like chrome emblems, chrome accents, in some cases none black rims (the worst) just isn't going to give you the same effect.

In short, to get the BEST sinister look, one must commit to it. All black, or not at all. Plus, there is a way about it, subtle, classy, not making it look like you sprayed it all black with a booth lol. That's achieved by using slightly different shades of black, mainly gloss and satin and learning to break it up SLIGHTLY (like the centre cap logo) etc. I think you've done well, kinda hard to tell in the photos though what else can be done but yeah, mint truck mate!! :)

Good advise. What about a red lip an painting the little Allen heads along the lip red too? I was going to do red lugs but they fade and turn pink out here in 120 degree heat lol I enjoy using my spray gun so I was thinking about a custom paint job. The truck is brilliant black pearl but I was thinking of adding red flake or pearl to it maybe 2 tone or w a red line down the side or something neat. Oh and still working on a black shorty antenna. Here's a side shot for ya.

In my opinion, I think that will be too much, too contrast on such a black truck. You want people to view your truck as a "whole" not walk up to it and concentrate on the rims. I think satin black powder coated rims, red centre cap with logo (Ram head or custom) is more than ample because keep in mind you have big red calipers behind them too. I think that'll be just enough.

A nice touch you could try (cheap one too) is red lug nut covers (not lugs). That'd be quite cool as it'll look like a red circle spinning once under way (more so walking, cruise speed, at a show etc). I'd run covers over lugs any day. They are awesome, cheap and look good and in most cases aftermarket lugs are longer (Gorilla, etc) and stick out further, looks, um, "odd" to me haha.

Really your call mate, I'm just throwing out some ideas. Looks clean and tasteful now so if any advice, don't go over board. Leave the "full on" every mod look to the Jappas!! My motto is and always will be in terms of appearance mods: "Less is more". ;) 2c If you have any LARGE clear images I can have a go at photo shopping black rims, red lugs and centre cap, lowering it a tad and maybe a few other small items to help give you an idea. Just need a large clear photo is all.

I'm definitely gonna sound like a creep, but I am a huge fan of the truck. Watched every YouTube video, at least 4 times.

But welcome to the RF!
