This may be a repost, for which i apologize. I've been reading regearing threads left and right, but haven't found any to answer my question..

Have a 2WD with 3.55 LSD. I'm thinking of regearing to allow me to lift and go 35's, while still towing and not straining the truck too much, especially in the mountains.

Why would i go 4.56 over 4.10? I'll be going LSD on either. Just curious which one i should aim for and why..

And those that have done it, what did you pay?

OH! My bad, I missed that you already had LSD. The factory 4.10s will fit on your LSD but the bolt pattern is different on the aftermarket gears so if you want to go to 4.56 you will need to have new holes drilled/machined into your diff to accept the different gear bolt pattern. If your using your same diff then you can just leave the side bearings on there and the new ring and pinion will come with a new pinion bearing/crush sleeve.

Fasthemiram does the machining for the ring gear, just depends how long you can have your truck down.

The OEM 4.10 would be a lot easier but are selling for 600 to 700 but Moes has the 3.92s for only 399.

Labor should be 300 to 500 for 2wd.

Am i going to be pleased with 4.10s? Will they be sufficient for 35s whilst towing 5500lbs?

If you are going to spend the Time / Money to regear, and you plan on 35" tires, go with 4.56 gears.
If you are going to tow, even with stock tires, go with 4.56 gears.
The Hemi has SO MUCH more mid-top end, keeping the RPMs around 2k will make it run SO MUCH better!

I ran 4.56s with 34" tires and wished many times I had gone 4.88s (This was in a '00 Ram). Don't fear the gear!
You'll also likely see a bump in MPG around town, because you'll be using more mechanical advantage.

Need to find a good shop nearby. I found a $400 labor rate, but he had no idea about the carrier machining.. So now i'm nervous he may not be the guy. BUT, i'm confident he can do the OEM 4.10 swap. I'd rather pay a few bucks more and get the 4.56's.

Fasthemiram12 - How long does it take to machine the ring gear once i send it to you? Just wondering if we're talking days or weeks. And cost? And what part of the country are you in?

Guys - Can i ditch the OEM LSD all together and go to the Detroit TT?

I think it might be cheaper/easier to go 4.56 + Detroit TT + Master Install Kit + ZF Shaft then it would be to find someone to machine or send it away, etc.

Plus, the Detroit TT is an upgrade in of itself.

Yeah. You are going to need a machine shop or fasthemiram to machine the carrier for 4.6 gears. Fasthemiram is in Florida, Orlando I believe, so that is an option. A 4x4 or speed shop that does gear installs isnt going to know anything about machining your carrier to accept aftermarket gears.

Or like you said just get the Detroit TT. You can always sell the OEM LSD and get a few hundred back.
