How to wreck a weekend. I've been sick for a few days and this evening went out and found a dent on the hood. Split the paint about 2 inches as well. Looks like a baseball hit but I'm not sure. There have been odd things happening in the neighborhood as well.

One good thing is we are covered for any cosmetic damage. Ill have to call the dealership on Tuesday. Still, on a new truck makes me pretty pissed.

I just configed my RasberryPi with a webcam recording at night from a window. Its tweaked for an instant capture when motion is detected.

I take it the mounties are of little help in a situation like this?

I'm trying to be calm, its my Son's BDay today too. Police need proof, if i called they might hang about a little and cruise the blocks around us but who knows when this really happened.

Here in the states, you have to file a police report to file an insurance claim in majority of cases. I'd be hot too. While back, someone managed to hit the wife's Jeep and peel the chrome clad OEM rim. The cop asked if I curbed it. 6 inches from the ground with no damage to the tire or edge of the rim. I asked if he was kidding? Show me the curb that can damage a rim 6" from the ground and not damage anything else. The only damage done, but was still just over $500. Go figure, the deductible is $500 so I'm going to get her new rims next year. Good luck catchin' the a'holes who did it.

That ball would have been haulin' ass to dent a rolled piece of steel like that I'd think. That sucks man, I'd be pissed too. Hope it gets fixed with no problems or added stress.

Damn... I don't think it was a ball... to dent the round corner takes a lot of force. Hope you get it fixed soon.

In all honesty, I would bet money that wasn't a baseball... Especially on those rolled corners man, more like a pipe or bar of some sort...

I know something had to have hit it hard but i don't think it was bare metal either, there are no marks, just the dent.

Taxes my brain as to why someone would intentionally do it. I really don't care if it was done while I was out somewhere and didn't notice it. That just means it was random. If it was done while it was parked at home, that's what really bugs me.

On Tuesday Nov 12/13 I went to the dealership for them to have a look at the damage on the hood. They come out and take a look and said, "we'll repair the dent but not the paint." Huh?! ...Back to this in a minute.

I pay a small monthly fee for a product the dealership offers called "Vehical Armour". This covers dents, rips or burns in the interior, windshield replacement, etc. At time of purchase 5 weeks ago I specifically asked if Dodge has a auto protective package like I had on the Mazda we traded in. I told them what it covered which includes dents AND paint damage and they said, "Yes." So I went with it.

Back to the dent... I said doesn't the package I purchase not cover paint chips/cracks? "No it doesn't, it covers only the dent." I couldn't believe it. Why offer a service to repair a dent without repainting the area or panel? The paint is there to protect the vehical from rust as well as have a nice appearance. So after a little disagreement they said we'll have our dent guy come in and see what he can do.

I went into speak with someone about other issues I had with the Dodge dealership like: no full tank on purchase of new vehical, 6 month free satellite radio over after 1 month, no registrantion papers, bill of sale or truck manual at time of purchase, disorganization of service to install add-ons at time of purchase. First 5 week impression of Dodge service: Fail. I was quite blunt and said I'm ready to just return the vehical and get my trade-in back. At this point if it is still a possibility, I'd do exactly that. I like the truck, I dislike the service/treatment so far.

On my way home I get a call asking me what time suites me. Next day at 9am. Fine, I work until 3am but this is important so I accept the time.

I get there and the service guy says are you here to drop off the truck? NO. I'm here to have the guy bang out the dent and get the area touched up with paint. At this point I was going to pay for the paint as I didn't want anything contaminating the exposed metal. So he tells me that no courtesy car is ready. Ridiculous, if you call me in for an appointment that you know is going to take more than a day, there should be a courtesy car in case I need one. Back into the office I go, restating the issues to the sales manager this time and again stating the issues so far and I want to return the truck. "Oh, no you can't do that, it's a done deal." After a few minutes, really tired as I'm on 4 hrs sleep I just don't have the energy to argue. Unexpected crap adds to my stress level.

A few minutes later, more salt for the wound: Dodge: if we bang out the dent, the paint may break off, do you want us to start? I say NO and after a few minutes leave. I did get a credit for the full tank of gas, nothing more though. Yippy?.

Fast foward to today. So now its a regular insurance claim. My deductable will cover half, that leaves an estimated $300 to shell out. The body repair quotes have shown about a $600 repair job for a freakin dent. They will sand the area, bang out and fill, repaint and blend, plus a clear coat to the entire hood.

All the above makes for a very unsatisfied customer.

After waiting for the claim to go through regular insurance channels I got the call that it's been approved. The shop that is doing the repair will start tomorrow and should be done on Tuesday of next week. This is a lot faster than I thought, at least I can put it out of my head soon.

My previous post was a bit ranty and I really do like the 1500, the truck is great!
Its just all the service dept. issues and lack of info that wasn't passed onto me.

Move on time.

Overtime at work is going to provide us with cash to by a canopy. After that, mods/accessories will be fair game :-D

Dang. That looks like an ex took a baseball bat to it. I don't think it was from kids playing ball. Good luck with the repair.

Sounds to me like you need a new dealer. Unfortunately Dodge doesn't run service departments at dealers. Hope it's over with for ya soon.

With more lack of returned calls this past week I'm fed up ...and I have a lot of patience!

I've just sent an email to the GM (and CCed 2 others) at the current dealership stating I will not use their service dept. for my maintenance or parts/upgrades in the future, nor will I recommend anyone do the same. Wonder if I'll get a reply this time? I already talked to 2 other dealerships and one in particular seems very organized. If the current dealer makes it right, I might stay, if not, then I'm gone and movin on.

I said this before but, if I could, I'd honestly take my Mazda 5 back and return the truck and shop elsewhere. It doesn't "feel" like a new vehicle experience should.

Damage Repaired.

Got the RAM back today. Mark's Autobody in Burnaby is the best. I can't tell at any angle in direct sun light that there was any damage or paint repair. I also learned that the 1500 hood is aluminum, not mild steel, I had no idea. Anyway, happy about the repair! :D
