Yall were a HUGE help when we chose the truck, thank you! Now an issue has popped up twice recently:

2016 1500 hemi crew 15K miles.

When truck is cold and you first put it in gear and accelerate, it acts like it is having trouble taking off. Sort of like surging/chugging for a bit. It could be engine is starving or flooding so it feels that way or it could be transmission is slipping and having a tough time catching and then shifting up through gears.

Regardless, once you’ve traveled 50 -100 feet, it smooths out and runs fine from there.

Does this ring any bells for anyone?

May sound silly... But are you sure you're giving it steady acceleration? I know a few times after I got my pedal commander, I had to get accustomed to the throttle sensitivity and found myself giving too much gas, then laying off completely, which would cause me to jerk into the gas pedal again. It was a vicious jerky cycle lol. Doesn't sound good if that's not your issue...

Check your throttle body and make sure it's clean. These do need some simple maintenance and there can be some "stickiness" holding the blade in place momentarily.

I assume you have no check engine light?

I'll ask hubby about it for sure, as it has only happened to him while driving. I wouldn't expect that is the case but we'll see.

Truck has low miles, so probably not what I had issue with. At cold start I would hear rpms go up but truck wasn't moving like it should at those rpm. Ended up being a broken header bolt. After a 100 feet or so idle went back to normal. Dealer replaced broken bolt and issue went away, but my truck had 40k miles.

Do you have the 8 speed?

It’s normal for the 8 speed to hang in first gear when it’s cold. I’m guessing that’s probably what you’re experiencing.
