Good Afternoon All,

My 2021 RAM 1500 was recently at the dealership for an extended repair with a new PCM and extended battery removal. Long story short, the radio is not working as it did before with regard to Android Auto and phone connectivity.
1. The radio used to connect both USB and bluetooth at the same time, now it disables bluetooth when usb is plugged in.
2. Whenever the phone GPS (Waze, Google maps) tries to play the guidance voice while plugged in and the radio is playing, the left front speaker cuts out like it is trying to play that stream, but nothing comes out, volume control stays on the GPS function with no change, and the audio/functionality does not come back to the speaker unless I unplug the phone.

I called Uconnect support and they were not helpful at all. I checked the Uconnect site and it said that the radio is up to date. However, when I reached out to the dealership (which is an hour away), they had me check my radio software version. It is at 21.18.14, and they told me it is VERY out of date as the radio should be on version 40 or something like that. They recommended coming in to have the radio updated by them. I know that in the past, I was able to update the radio software with a USB drive. Is that not an option anymore?

Thanks,

Joe

I'll weigh in here as I just went through the exact thing. No you cannot update 2020+ with USB, and they won't provide the file. Believe me I tried with two dealers and RAM direct. Do not trust the website to verify your software version, it is definitely incorrect. Said mine was on latest version and it was three versions back on my 2020 2500. Many many RAMS do not receive the OTA updates, official answer? They have no clue why. RAM has no clue, Uconnect knows nothing and wouldn't admit it if they did.

Ended up having the dealer flash to the newest version which took forever due to Wytech issues. They ended up not charging me because I had to wait so long for it.

FYI... Those Panasonic radios go by the "application version". Yours is on v39.62.xx and is only 1 version behind v40.x
