Upgraded from Dakota to Ram 1500

Greetings everyone. New here but have been reading a lot over the last couple of weeks. I upgraded from a 2006 Dakota 4x2 ST to a 2012 1500 Laramie Longhorn 4x4. So far I am loving it, but the whole camshaft lifter thing has be a little concerned, thought it's not out of my capabilities to do the repair. It's got 166k on the clock, but no signs of a lifter problem (knock on wood). A few small things to take care of but for its age and mileage, it's in really great shape and a massive upgrade from the Dakota.

As you can see from the picture, I seem to have a color preference.

Welcome! I had an 05 Dakota, loved that truck, that led me to my Ram.

My '14 Ram actually did have lifter failure, but it's really not  that common. If your truck is at 166K with no issues just drive it and enjoy it!

Yep. If it’s got to 160K+ without issues…… it’s a good one. Enjoy.

Yessir, been here for over 35 years. Love it! I had an 82 Ramcharger that was 7 years old when I bought it. I had the plow put on it. I owned it and drove it for 23 years. I gave it to my younger brother who still plows his driveway with it.
