Now, on my 2014 Ram w/ just over 50k miles, my tailgate has never fallen. I hear the lock mechanism make an electrical-squeal noise from time-to-time when unlocking/locking ... but the tailgate has never fallen. Anyway, I typically get the Recalls completed.

To my point ... on my 2014, the Spray-In Bedliner installer sprayed over the tailgate cover ~ not the fasteners ~ just the tailgate cover, and its pretty good 'n sealed in. Right or wrong, that's what they did & I suspect my truck is not the only one like this.

To perform this Recall, the Dealer is going to have to cut around the bedliner and I can just imagine how bad they'll bugger it up. Anyone else experienced this so far & can comment??

Have you tried removing the cover?

Mine looked like it was pretty sealed in there, but I removed it myself (to fluid film inside) and it was not stuck in place at all.

Maybe I just got lucky when they factory spray lined mine?

I would make sure it comes off BEFORE I took the truck in... even if I had to "carefully" cut around the cover..:superhack:

Mine was sprayed as well, and when I removed it, it appears that some of the line-x type material was actually under the cover. I used a plastic trim tool to just break it lose with no issues what so ever. I preferred doing the fix myself since it was so simple and I knew the nylon washers would not be over tightened doing it myself.
