Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! Just passed 1500 miles on the truck. First impressions:
Pros
- Seats are WAY more comfortable than the seats in my previous truck.
- Interior is solid and hasn't had a single noise/rattle I've had to track down. I nicknamed my Sierra 'Rice Krispies' because it was always going snap, crackle, pop. I got it to a point where it was much quieter after stuffing foam in various spots.
- The crew cab is massive, bigger than my Sierra's crew cab. Tons of room for my kids and all their crap.
- Powertrain and suspension are buttery smooth. The Hurricane SO responds immediately when I need it and delivers consistent power throughout. Shifts aren't noticeable and seem to shift at the right point. My experience with Bilstein shocks are that they offer more control but are stiffer. These factory installed Bilstein shocks have been dialed in really well for this truck. Great balance of not being too soft/bouncy but also not teeth shattering stiff.
- Glad to see there was already an aftermarket start/stop override device in the market. That was easily installed so I don't have to hit the button every time I drive.
Cons
- Center console lid is heavy and slams down easily. Would have been nice if they integrated a spring into it that allows for a softer close. My Sierra had that.
- 14" head unit with Uconnect 5 was pretty glitchy at first. Had to do a full factory reset to get it to function smoothly. It still has little glitches here and there but nothing I can't live with.
- Brand new water pump had a coolant leak and needed to be replaced. It was covered under warranty but hoping this isn't a sign of things to come.
- Driver's side front door and hood were misaligned. My truck must have been built on a Monday or Friday as multiple body lines weren't straight. Had these adjusted under warranty but would have been nice to be straight out of the factory.
Overall I love the truck and don't regret the jump. The pros far outweigh the minor cons I've had to deal with. Ram truck sales were up 27% in Q1 - destroying GM, Ford, and Toyota for a reason. They backed their reliable powertrain with a longer warranty and offered great incentives to make prices less painful.
