Well I've finally done it, been putting it off since February but I finally said F it and did my grille, sweat, tears, blood, and a few (nonalcoholic) drinks later and it's done. And I'm glad I painted it it looks 100x better than stock.

It never ends, at work today something was leaking near the rear end, assumed pin hole in brake line as it was sprayed everywhere, limped it home to find out it's the pinion seal, yay, never messed with rear ends/pinion nuts, any info/advice on setting the nut back in position?

howd you know it was bad? symptoms?/

Started it up one morning and heard an obvious ticking on the driver's side. Was hoping it was the exhaust manifold gasket but after replacing that it just sounded more clear and localized to the front of the head. Slightly rough idle on start up but ran fine once warmed up.

Got all the parts ordered today. :superhack:

Put some top coat in the truck didn't get any pics due to lighting however it's not what I want it's the bright metallic silver and my roll pan came out like glass when I was done but the fender just seems rough. I'm gonna do some research and contact a buddy that went to school for it and get a pic posted up here but if anyone has any ideas please hit me up

Lil_Ram - Looks good so far. How about some ghost graphics? :insane:

I thought about adding some flakes but then I'd have to do the whole truck and don't really wanna do that
And I believe I'll wet sand like you said john

I've always found the "paint match" sprays to leave a dusty feeling on the surface. Dupli-colour paint shop products have a really nice clear coat if you have a spray gun

I have actual paint for a HVLP sprayer which is why I am confused why it came out like the rattle can paint. Starting to wonder if the place I got it wasn't that great

What's the temperature there?

HVLP mists the paint so fine that in this weather it can dry before it hits the surface, leaving that effect. Professional body shops have to adjust the hardener and the mix that they use in hot weather in order to lay paint down smoothly. An amateur trying to do it in the heat we've had here is a recipe for a dry paint job.

Yeah I believe it was around 80 degrees when I did however the paint was pre mixed didn't realize it until I got it that it was so mixing wasn't on me. But i did need paint with the higher heat hardener like you say so I'm gonna try and recover it and put some paint down over it as smooth as possible

Looks real good! Did you buy the grille insert and put it on yours or whole grille? Where did you get from and how hard was install?
