I noticed the rear view mirror has these two parts that stick out on the bottom. The one in blue is solid. The one is red has a mesh cover. What do they do?

Edited: This is a mirror on a 2024 1500 Limited.

I won't look it up, BUT

I believe that those buttons are 911 & for calling Auburn Hills Michigan Ram Offices for information.

If you Pay for Uconnect or still have it on a Trial Basis
Those buttons will work. Otherwise they will not work

Thank you for the info. Those two plastic pieces don't appear to be buttons. The one in the red box could be microphone, but the one in blue is just a hard piece of plastic. Perhaps it's a placeholder for a vehicle option that I don't have installed ... or maybe it's just there to visually balance the box in red.

I don't think they are anything more than side guards to direct your finger to the flipper for the display versus the mirror and to keep you from accidentally pushing one of the display's buttons.

GTyankee - I checked the manual before asking. The rear view mirror section doesn't mention them, nor does it appear to be mentioned anywhere else in the manual. The video you posted doesn't mention them either.

BossHogg - Interesting idea, but I'm still wondering why they're different. Perhaps, they're intended to physically feel different so it's easier to identify the one closest to the buttons when we're not looking at the mirror. But the real buttons on the far right adjust the digital mirror, so anyone who's using the buttons is going to be looking at the mirror.
