if it means anything to you the motor with mds doesn't have spark plug wires(unless I am mistaken)

Never came into production. I know that there is a lot out there for the 4.7 Dakotas...just not sure how it would work with the ECU and such.

I didn't know that. You may want to talk to the dakota guys, you might find something that will work with the 4.7 in your ram?

If you are set on a hemi, I would do like KGBIGCOUNTRY said and check with Stu at inertia. Get a built hemi from the getgo.

I'm sure it would cost an arm and a leg though.

From the man with a 15K paint job..lol...:joke:

It might, but if you are going to do other mods anyway I think it would be the way to go. Get a stroker with the cam you want, good heads, and the internals to hold up to a turbo/supercharger/nitrous or whatever.

Build it right the first time and you will thank yourself down the road. Im saving up for Stu's new 400ci shortblock fordged internals for my truck. Gonna replace the stock piston with another till I can do the stroker shortblock and get my heads worked over.

Deff call and talk to him. Those prices are just to give you an idea but dont be worried about those. A few people have ran 5.7s off of the 4.7 pcm but he might have a better route.

You can actually pull good numbers out of a 4.7 with the right work. Check out www.airram.com
Nick does a lot of work on the 4.7's and sells all the goodies you would want. He's even doing a project where he's developing adaptor plates for the 4.7 so you can put a supercharger from a 4.6L ford motor onto our 4.7's. Here's the link. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the page.

AirRam - Cold Air Induction System

I don't know if he's gotten any better times yet but this is what they're doing with a 4.7 qcsb:

We have run our best times to date thanks to the latest SCT programmer! This custom programmer has brought us from our previous best 9.99 down to a 9.49 in the 1/8th!... take a look at our times... make note of the [email protected]!!

60' ....... 2.24 (BEST 60ft was with H/O cams 1.99 60')
330 ...... 6.09
1/8 ...... [email protected]
1000 ..... 12.42
1/4 ....... [email protected]

This is Single Cab HEMI territory! Not bad for a little 287ci in a 5200lb truck! Look for the SCT programmer right here on our site!
