Headed to my ol' man's house for new years and got involved in a rear-end collision an hour before midnight. Granted, the accident could have been worse and everyone walked away from it but still......I'm not too happy about it.
I won't go into details since I'm still having conversations with professionals who specialize in these matters but I will just say that everyone please be careful out there. Put the friggin phones down and pay attention to what the heck you are doing and for heaven's sake, if you throw back a few, get a damn Uber.
The pictures below tell most of the story but like I said, I can't share the specifics of the narrative just yet. As to the damage, the body shop says that it will cost around $5-6k to fix her up. The trailer hitch took most of the damage but the impact was so severe that the bed dented the cab and my driver's seat reclined a little bit. All my papers that I had in my sunvisor wound up in the back seat including everything that was in my center console. Scary!
I added the Air Ride airbags and the air lines were cut but surprisingly, the tailgate lightbar still works. My Dee Zee tailgate assist is probably toast as well as my tonneau cover. As finicky as our 8-speed trannys are, I'm wondering if I will have problems later on with it since I was at highway speeds when I got hit.
I won't make a GMC vs. Ram joke. Honestly, I'm just glad to be alive.
My truck on the side of the road right after it happened.
The guy who hit me.
Me dropping it off at the shop
Exhaust and suspension damage
Frame compromised
