I was considering trading in my 2012 R/T for a 2017 R/T. My 2012 did not come with a receiver and I installed a Curt Hitch 15572. The 2017 does have a receiver and the Curt hitch 15572 states it is for a 1500 without a receiver. My question is can I remove the OEM receiver from the 2017 and use the Curt 15572?

I am sure you could but the factory hitch will handle anything that the truck ever should.

I agree is the 17 has a factory hitch no reason to remove it for the Curt the oem is as or stronger than the Curt it's a class iv as well. Personally I prefer the oem hitch as its tucked nicely up under the bumper.
