2013 and up are more finicky than older models. The are "smarter". I had one as well in my 2014. I used a work around I can access...

Shaftman, so what's that work around you were talking about there?

Here is a thought
What cluster do you have?
On my 1500 I have the 3.5 and the only bulb out messages I get are the main bulbs.
I don't get one for reverse or license plate. Even when I put LED' s in them, backwards or not plugged in on those even didn't get me a light.

Interesting point, but the light out he is getting is obviously for a brake light (main bulb)? But maybe that is why I am not
getting it I currently have the 3.5 EVIC as well, planning an upgrade, I just need to get the mileage corrected on the premium one I have.
So cannot will not check that to see if I get the message. But you could be right about that.

I just switched from the lockpick on my truck and decided to try the RAX jailbreaker system. Prior to installing the RAX, the radio did not turn at all when using the remote start until I physically opened a door, but once I did it would boot up come on like normal. Since I installed the RAX jail-breaker silver wnen I remote start it and open the door it comes on and displays tailgate cam until I either touch the screen or put the fob in the ignition and turn it to run. I should note that the radio did and still does a normal boot up when I start the truck normally. Also the front cam comes on every time I stop until I touch screen or reach a certain speed. Do any of you guys have the same behavior in the radio????

Mine's exactly the same. I very rarely use the remote start since it runs for a couple of days straight without being shut off (I tow RV's across the US and Canada), so I don't know whar mine does when you remote start it. When installing the jailbreak, you have an option to install or continue if you want to show the front cam, once you slow down under a certain speed setting. If you still have your USB you can insert it again and uninstall that particular option.

One thing I added to my nav is an AB RCA switch that hides underneath the panels with only the switch showing. Now that I have 3 video inputs, I have my front cam, tailgate cam which was already wired into the nav, and my cargo cam. I bought a WD TV which is a little media player which I connected to the switch which switches between the cargo cam and the WD TV. It has 2 usb ports so I connect my external hard drive and in very long trips I can watch something on my nav. I know what you're thinking, but I haven't had a problem until now and it keeps me awake. Lots of truckers do it.

The WD TV comes with a 110v power brick that outputs 12v. I just cut of the end and connected that to a switched 12v source. Here's how it looks on the display. Sorry for the mess. I recorded this right after installation. I now moved it right under the trailer brake controller, it fits in there perfectly. Also I showed the hard drive connected but was actually playing a youtube video over wifi.

Shaftman told me about installing some sort of software that will get rid of hyperflash and/or evic messages. From what I've seen on other forums, I'm guessing it's the LBQ code. Apparently you can go to the Dealer and they can add that code to your truck. I still haven't got around to install the camera yet nevermind going to the dealer. If you find something let me know.

I've got my Silver+ package but I'm having issues interpreting the software download instructions.
I'm not the most computer-savvy person but I seem to be having a serious problem with these.
Swenglish is not my strongest suit....

Any help that forum members can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Anybody????

Do you mean the Customtronix mod?
Is there a download link to the directions or something you can upload? There may not be many people that have forked over the money for it but if there is something we can read you may get some help. cgeorgemo or cptwing may have done the front cam/chmsl mod and chime in but I'm not sure. (I haven't but I'm interested).
Hope you get some feedback.

Yes I have downloaded and installed the RAX silver. Do not delete any of the emails they sent you!!! One email will contain a "Token File" this is a unique license file coded to your vin, with out this file you cannot install the program. I believe the actual download link is contained in this email or another.

First you download the file, the file if I remember right is a RAR file.

1 Download file to a destination folder, on your desktop where ever, this will just be a holding location for the compressd RAR file.

2 Format a thumb drive to FAT32 they reccomend 8 gig, but 4 is plenty.

3 Open the RAR file and extract the files to the thumb drive, you may have to install WIN RAR (free download on cnet and other places.)

4 Copy paste the token file from the email onto the same thumb drive.

Now you are ready to install it simply turn the ignition to on and plug in the thumb drive and follow the prompts "Do not turn off Ignition until complete or you could brick your radio". There are videos on you tube on how this is done, (Google "Customtronix, RAX, Jailbreak ETC") but really, just follow the prompts. It will say new device cargo cam found, new device front cam found do you want to install etc.

One word of advice the front cam will come on every time you stop, and go out at about 10 mph. If you install the software for the front cam, it will still activate the cam when you stop even if you do not physically install the cam, without the cam it will display a blue screen every time you stop, some folks would find this very annoying. Unfortunately there is no way to change this, it would be nice if it came on initially when you start off and not keep coming unless you forced it. The cargo cam as you know can be turned on anytime you want.

One other thing that happens I find odd, is when I use my remote starter, the radio comes on and displays the back up cam, it did not do that before I installed the jailbreak.

If I think of it tonight I will post a screenshot of what the file structure should look like on the thumb drive.

Below is a screen shot of the jailbreak software loaded on my thumb drive, and ready to be used, the file name
that has been redacted contains my vin yours will contain yours.

Hi Mpgrimm2, thanks for weighing in on this.

In answer to your thought about a video download link, Yes, there is one, but it can be a bit convoluted-and by his own admission the presenter apologises right up front for his 'Swenglish'. Add that to that fact that I'm not the most computer-savvy guy, and you have the perfect storm!

I see that cptwing has logged in with a full description, so once I read through and assimilate his information, hopefully I can pull this all off without 'bricking' my radio.

Thanks again.

Good evening cptwing,

Thanks for the help on this, but I think that I must be missing something?

If I understand correctly, I have two(2) downloads to do from the email that Customtronix has sent me.

One is the token file that you refer to, and which I have to unzip and drop onto a USB stick, which they refer to as USB Stick 1. This being the one that references the VIN plus the Jailbreaker options you have chosen. This I get.

But then there is a reference to a second one, called USB Stick 2, plus the other file in the email, the hyperlink that is titled

https://mega.co.nz/#!5QoQRTgB!vVYsYybrjeNbbvW4GMUpoIUooF5vBoqjkJwrI8zuhJQ

At this point I tend to zone out and my non-computer genes kick in.

If you can shed additional light on this I would be most appreciative.

I have a 2012 Laramie 2500 with the touch screen/nav. I want a front camera. Can this same stuff work for my truck? If I can get inputs to nav while moving it would be amazing too.

The instructions are confusing as you say they mention 2 usb sticks or thumb drives. If you look at the drive name in my pic, it says red drive 1 I too thought I needed 2 drives as well. The instructions calling for 2 drives is for a European update the includes map updates and not the US one. You only need one usb stick. The token file is not a download it is attached to your email, as you said unzip it and paste it to your usb stick along with the downloaded and extracted files just like I said in the previous post.

If you plug in USB stick as stated previously and are prompted to install update 14:xx.xx you are good to go. If you did not paste the token it will give you a no token message an not allow you to install it, I know because I missed this myself. I thought the token was part of the download an did not initially see it in the email.

Just leave the key in the on position during the process, do not interrupt it and you will be jus fine.

Turboguy327, yes this will allow you to add a front cam and a cargo light cam, called the CHMSL cam. Readthru this post for more info.
