Well, here it is...over a 4 day span of driving a lot of highway miles. I went from Dallas to Waco and back, Dallas to Texarkana and back, Dallas to Shreveport and back, and Dallas to Centerville (half way to Houston) and back. Each trip out, I had 1500-1700 pounds of batteries in the bed, rode home empty most of the time. Speed ranged anywhere from 68-82 depending on if I was running behind schedule...I'd say average was probably 73-74. I made probably 10-12 stops during this mileage.

Not too shabby, eh?

You can subtract at least 2 mpg and it will be closer to reflecting the actual mpg if you hand calculated it. The evic readout is just a feel good number.
Sorry for the bad news.

I know the computer isn't accurate, I've hand calc'd myself in the past. But, this is the highest I have seen over a long period of time (1k or more miles) for any 6.4 mpg that I have seen posted....certainly the highest for myself. Not bad news at all, this is great MPG regardless.

You can stop being a party pooper now.

I will hand calc the MPG when I full up on Monday morning. I filled up 15 miles from home last night, and my round trip today was 280 miles, so 295 total miles...I have just a shade under half a tank, so we'll see. I'll report back with actual figures. I just thought this EVIC report was cool, since it's obviously better than I usually get with my daily driving with traffic and such.

My best ever hand calc on a tank was 15.2mpg.

I'd be happy if my truck even lied that good:) Even if hand calc is -2, which is where mine hovers, that is pretty decent for a gasser.

This was on a 2-week 3k+ trip. About 1100 mi each way and all mixed driving while there. Hand calculated several times during the trip and was only off by a bit over 1 mpg. Average cruise speed 75ish. Only loaded down with normal vacation garb and two kids & a 60 lb lab. Im not mad about it.

19.7 is dang good. My cummins has only ever shown me that at speeds below 70, and my 6.4 around 65... both empty. I'd be happy with that even if it's 2mpg off. Thumbs up.

Mine has never been that far off with my usual driving. It'll be anywhere from .5-1 off usually, 1.3 was the worst.

Yep, this is what I'm finding out myself, I'm getting ready to tow my new TT Tuesday it's about 9500 lbs it will be interesting to see what kind of mileage I get.

Didn't mean to rain on the parade. Best I ever did with my 6.4 was on a 65 mpg highway, no wind, some mountains, and evic showed 19.1 but actual mileage ended up 16.96. Still no complaints as it is a heavy duty 2500 CC.

I've always figured, the higher the EVIC number, the higher the actual mpg number.

Yeah I mean that's still really respectable for such a heavy truck with a big gas engine.

I wouldn't have believed that fuel economy unless I had the same experience.

And every time someone posts a good trip with the 6.4 it is guaranteed one of the first 5 posts will always state "the EVIC is ********......"

BUT.......if you reset it with each tank it really is pretty close the hand calculated mpg.

Here was my trip from August:

I have reset my EVIC every single tank on two trucks starting in 2005, and the EVIC is rarely within 1 mpg and usually 2 mpg on the high side, so in my experience the EVIC is the Lie-O-Meter. At least on this truck it doesn't stray much farther than that. On my '05 it was sometimes off as much as 5-6 mpg when towing. Yes, EVIC=********.

Well that blows. Mine has been within 1mpg or less for the time I have had the truck. Usually about 0.5-0.7mpg off, usually EVIC is more favorable.

The true original Lie-O-Meter was my 2001 F250......that thing would regularly claim 20-22mpg.........which was hand calc'd more like 15mpg.....

I'm with you. My lie-o-meter works about as well as yours.

Damn< I'd crow about it too.

Hey, Naysayers, my old v-10 got 9mpg, evic.
Hand calculated that truck, just once, and never did it again.
Found out, I PREFERED the Lie.

My 5.7 Hemi is off about 1.2-1.7 mpg but, guess what?
Once again, I prefer the Evic LIE and have pretty much quit hand calculating.

Honestly, after 15 yrs and 190K miles with that old V-10, anything over 12mpg gives me a ..... nevermind.

Yep..... and I smile ear to ear every time. I'd be pissed too if I spent 7K more for a truck than I needed to :roflsquared::roflsquared:

Sorry, I know I shouldn't feed the trolls but I just can't resist. The Hemi-bashing BS just gets to be too much to handle in here. Get a grip folks.... it's a truck and we're talking about fuel mileage. People are just posting to share some good info. Enough with "I bought a diesel I am god" crap.
