Guys. My dad has a 12 3500 6.7 and he swears the oil change light comes on every 5k miles. Is there any way we can extend that to say 15k?

I know I can just keep resetting it 3 times but that seems stupid

Thanks

That shouldn't happen. Should be set for 12k already.

Well that I didn't know. It's possible he's putting 12k miles in a few months. I will have to look myself. He keeps records and is probably confused

Thanks can we make it longer say 15k miles?

I'm pretty sure this isn't accurate. The monitors dating back for 10+ years are actually smarter than you think. They factor stress on the engine (towing vs highway driving, etc.) and count down depending on conditions. I know my 14 Ram isn't just a mileage counter. I've hit a given % at very different miles depending on how I'm using the truck.

From what I have read, the pre-DEF 6.7 Cummins trucks had a fuel dilution issue, due to the emissions strategy they chose to go with, and in some applications can have a very short OCI.
