Those ratings are for the Cherokee. The Ram 1500 ratings have not been released yet.

I think this is a great idea and should have been done a long time ago. I'm happy to hear that Chrysler took the initiative and will be the first to offer this option. I, like many others, want a diesel but have no use for a 3/4 ton or 1 ton truck. This will truly put RAM at the top!

I'm italian and for my the Diesel engine made by RAM isn't a FIAT but is made by VM. FIAT never made a big diesel, FIAT made only a small diesel motor max 2.0lt. But the VM made a good 3.0 V6 24V diesel 250 HP, it's the same motors sold in europe for the JEEP model.

VM Motori S.p.A. This is the VM, the factory who made the motors.

Oh ok sorry for the misunderstanding, but the 240 hp still doesn't sound appealing to me. Wish the numbers were a little better

I think its gonna be over powered people will try to pull more than the suspension and frame can handle. Probably be more for the diesel lovers that like a diesel to have one not to use one. Gonna be cool though.

240 HP will not be the best to race, but 240 HP if you use the RAM 1500 to work are more than enough to do everything. That engine is already used in Europe, it is used on many models JEEP, and its real MPG is about 23 MPG in mixed use (50% City, 50% Highway). The HEMI motor is the BEST for me, but if you want a onest motor for work this is a good motors.

Top Speed: 208 Km/h +/- 130 mph
0-100 Km/h ( +/- 0-60 ) 8,6 s
0-400 m ( 1/4 mile ) 16,1 s
MPG
EU mixed: 10 Km/l 23,6 MPG
EU town: 7,8Km/l 18,4 MPG
Italy HW*: 8,2Km/l 19,4 MPG

*130 Km/h = 81 mph Italian speed limit in HW

That VM motor has strong aftermarket support in Europe.
This things will be super easy to get more power out of.

Damn bummer it's not a cummins product. But it will be awesome to see what happens to the performance diesel pickup scene with this. Like unbroken said this engine is very popular in Europe and should convert nicely.

I would assume it is going to have a DEF system like the rest of the rams.
