I had a Ram 3500 ram cab and chassis built. I had it done early Febuary. I made a $2500 dollar deposit on it. Well according to the voc it was shipped March 3 from Mexico. I called the dealer to see when it would arrive at the dealership and the salesmen informed me march 24th. I thought that was a little long but all in all pretty good time overall. Anyway it didn't come on the 24th. I called the dealer and they now changed the arrival to April 7th. Nothing, so I called earlier today and they claimed to have their bosses etc try and get the truck but can't because of "numbers". I called ram myself today and was told it's in storage. I was told I would get a phone call back with a claim number but didn't yet.

What should I do?

This kinda crap seems to be going on in everything lately.

It's seriously enough to make a man lose his mind and start bashing heads.

I just read the hit & run thread - unreal.

Then, I read the thread about the jerk Dodge sales(wo)men - no offense to women - and now this one.

Like, seriously... WTH is going on in the world today???

Seems like stuff like this is every day.
My wife is constantly having to do other peoples jobs for them in cases just like this.

And as she would say... "SMH"

Storage is industry for caught up in Customs where it could be in limbo for as many as 3 months. US Customs is so overwhelmed they just hold shipments until they get to it.

Welcome to Chairman Obama's socialist utopia where he lays off employees of these agencies to make financial room for his healthcare costs.

If it is in customs then you don't have any steps. It will show up when it shows up. Until then I'd ask for my money back and once your truck arrives they can have it back.

Ask the dealer if they can sell you a truck that's assembled in America.

Just hope they aren't cutting it up looking for drugs….LOL!

Contact chrysler customer care, find out whats really going on, explain that the truck was labelled as being shipped 03MAR14 its been over a month and that their current communications with you are unacceptable. Have you currently worked out a final payment on the truck, is it a good number, is there room to make it a better number? Your current situation is unfortunate but it can have benefits for you to essentially re-enter negotiations. A lot of it depends on how much/how bad you need the truck. You can probably get your deposit back, but at that point the dealer is no longer required to sell you the truck, not only that but they know the truck is exactly the truck you want, so it could go bad for you. Best bet would to be to contact chrysler customer care and find out whats going on and make your displeasure known, that or get your money back and forget about the truck, depending on what you want to do at this point.

I contacted ram directly again yesterday. The girl said she has never seen this happen before. I was given a case number and a specialist would contact me Monday. I think I did pretty good on the truck. I paid $30,500 for it. I own a landscaping company so April, May, June is our busiest time. I have a dump body with another deposit on waiting for a truck to install it on. That will take about week to do.

What you are posting about is real but not new as it has been an issue for the last 6 weeks or so. I understand your frustration but really your dealer is to blame for not finding out the real information about your truck. You need to speak to the SM or GM of your dealership. If they tell you that they can no longer see your truck on their system, they could be telling you the truth. They, at that point, should have contacted their RAM rep for help.

There IS an issue with shipping the trucks from Saltillo to the US East coast. It is due mostly to a shortage of rail cars. RAM decided to start shipping trucks via boats around the end of Feb. (The dealer will lose sight on the system when this happens). Trucks were put on trains in Saltillo and moved South to the Port city of Altamira. There they will sit until the boat is available. Then from there they will take a boat ride with a possible stop in the Jacksonville,Fl area. From there the boat heads to Baltimore. Now here is where the delay really happens. When RAM decided to ship trucks to Baltimore they had not finished making arrangements with the car haulers. A potential car hauler contract fell apart. So trucks have just been sitting at the Baltimore Port.

How do I know all this? Because my truck sat at the Baltimore Port for nearly 1 month before I went down there with my dealer to get it. All of this is in the "6.4 Hemi" thread, and I posted pictures from the Port. At the Port a worker told me that they found out from one day to the next that they would be getting trucks and to expect 2 boat loads a month. So they are just being parked there until RAM can secure car haulers to move them. I do not know if trucks will then be put on trains from there to go to destenations that are beyond that
of a car hauler.

In my case, I became frustrated with how long the shipping was taking. My dealer's information was weak. I had someone that works at Chyrsler look into it and that is where I got all of my information. When I told the SM at the dealership about the boat, he thought that I was joking. Then he got the RAM rep involved and that is how I ended up getting my truck.

I ordered 1/31. Truck was built 2/18, shipped 2/19. Got to the Baltimore Port 3/6. I picked it up (with the dealer) at the Baltimore Port 4/11.

Sorry to hear this.

Sorry not to kick sand in your face, salt in your wound or other wise be a wise a$$.

But the unfortunate truth is every time your truck, was loaded / off loaded parked/stored,driven ,the longer it takes the more the chance for damage!!!

Be sure you take that truck for a drive at its it tended use speed and look it over with a fine tooth comb before you take delivery just saying.

Hope fully you will get a great truck and it will be worth the wait !!!

You're right. I will look it over up and down before I accept it. I think the price for the truck was more than fair for what I got.

I never got a call back from the ram "specialist".
