I leave it on all the time so when I park I don't have to waste my time engaging it.

What he said! Every word if it. When you live in the mountains, this exact procedure becomes second nature.I would think to keep pressure off the trans when parking on an incline you would have to apply the brakes and hold them, then apply the parking brake without releasing the brake pedal, then release the brake pedal and put the truck in park. Is this what everyone does? Otherwise wouldn't the incline already create pressure on the trans when you put it in park, take your foot off the brake then apply the parking brake? I only use it in a manual on a hill(saw one roll in gear before) or when in neutral, or auto or manual on a boat ramp but I usually don't have to get out.
I always use it. In older cars using the parking brake adjusted the drum brake and I drove manuals. So now it is just habit. If on a steep incline I shift to neutral set the parking brake allow the car to set against the brake then shift to park.
