Anybody have experience with purchasing a Mopar Vehicle Protection plan for their pre-owned truck? I was looking over the options and it seems like a fairly good plan. Anybody have it?

I recently did. Search the internet, lots of dealers selling them at discounted prices.

Did you have to take your truck in for an inspection or anything?

I have it on my 2014, had it on my 2007 and have it on my 2006 SRT8. I purchased each one from Chrysler on their service contract website.

The warranties paid off on the 2007 MegaCab and the 2006 SRT8 with repair/replacement of components that would have cost me over $4k out of pocket. With the MaxCare coverage and $100 deductible, the repairs cost me $200. I paid less than $1800 for the SRT8 package and just a bit over $2000 for the MegaCab coverage.

Unlike some folks, mine have been worth every penny I paid.

I paid $1200 for a 3 year unlimited mile one on a grand caravan with 60k miles on it. 2 years in and 150k miles the trans let go and I paid $100 and the bill was $3500 the first time as they rebuilt and it let go again 2k miles later and they put a $4200 new trans in that time for free.
Worth it for me

I've been emailing Clay back and forth (he's probably tired of my questions). Anywho, for my 2016 1500 5.7 4x4 the lifetime warranty would be $2430. He said the price will go up first of the year by $100, and will go up more after I hit 12,000 miles. Currently at 7,000 miles.

* No inspections needed
* I can do the oil changes myself as long as I keep a log and receipts.
* Would need to follow the maintenance log in the owners manual.
* Prorated up to 7 years / 100,000 miles... if truck is wrecked or something else.

The only thing I question, would I get 100% back if we decide to cancel before 3yr/36,000 miles. I would think yes, but he said definitely not. He said I might lose 30% but he "really don't know".

If I had until 3 yr/36,000 to know I'd get 100% back if I decided to change my mind, I'd do it for sure. I didn't really plan on spending that much money so close to the holidays. Decisions, decisions...

if you cancel prior to the expiration of the warranty the refund would be prorated.

Just for grins, I went to this site for two quotes... One for as of today, and one considering my truck is 2 years old and 30,000 miles. Yes the price is higher than the price Clay quoted me, at minimum by $300... but the difference between the two quotes on this site is only $150. What causes the quote to go up is "within 12 month from warranty start date" check box.

Clay - $2430

Genuine Mopar Vehicle Protection Warranty - Save $$ Today
2016 as of today with 7000 miles - $2730
2014 with 30,000 miles - $2880

My thought is at worst (considering today's prices) if I don't buy now and I wait until I have 30,000 miles... I might be out of pocket $450 more than I would if I bought now. I hope to be in a better financial position 2 years from now when my wife goes back to work full time from being a stay at home mom, so I'd have more disposable income and would feel better about spending $2880 then rather $2430 now. If I figure that $450 is "interest", yeah that's a horrible rate. Maybe I shouldn't look so hard at the numbers like that... but I'm a numbers guy :happy107:

Does anyone find fault in my logic?
