Didn't you just say that you never had a problem with the 3.21. I've had 2 and never felt like I was missing anything.

Yeah i was just wondering , i am not going to unless i feel the need to but had head a while back that the front was welded in or something like that .

you could swap in 3:92, but if you were happy with the 3:21 why bother. nice find, enjoy.

Swapping in 3.92 involves buying a front differential with 3.92s already installed. So it's expensive

The 3.92 gears will only net you about 2k in towing. Which quite honestly, with a 1500 is kinda pushing imo anyways. Can't really see a justification to go with higher gears personally. You'll get the best mpg with what you got .

I know i was only asking , i am not going to change them because i feel no need to really and like you said 10k is a lot to tow with a half ton anyway

Going to 3.92 will net exactly 0 pounds in towing. He would still be limited to his factory rating because that's what the placard says.
