Would it be possible to lower a 4wd truck 2-3in while still keeping the same hauling and towing capacity?

Have always dismissed lowering cause I assumed it couldn't be done.

abolsetely it can be done. 2-3" with everything else stock . However, for the low cost of air lift support bags(sit inside the coil) its silly not to add them at the same time

Yep like said above. I lowered mine 4" in the rear and haven't had any trouble hauling or towing anything with it. But of course I added the Air-lift 1000 bags to my rear coil springs to help out with my loads.

So are you guys certain that the towing and load capacity is unchanged? What about your rims? Are they LT rated? Don't tires have something to so with the load capacity?

Rims and tires are the factory stuff on my truck.

Now with out the bags. My truck squats like crazy with the lowering springs. So there's no doubt that if I ever blow a air bag I'll be riding on the bump stops when towing or hauling heavy in the bed. But I never tow or haul long distances and could live with it until a replacement bag came in.

The lowering kit was $590 straight from Mcghaughys. And the Air-lift bags was around $100 from Matt @ Moe's Performance. I had the rear coils cut some more to give me a true 4" drop in the rear though.

The front is 2" drop spindles. And once I added some new sway bar end links it came down probably another .25-.5" believe it or not. I guess the sway bar had some tension on it and kept the front end pushed up or something.

Looks good. I think I remember reading something about how the 4wd are a pain to lower in the front.

Seems like Matt lowered his truck and it's 4wd it's not quiet as low as mine is. I believe it's a 2/3" drop. And I believe Groundforce is the only company that is making a 4wd lowering kit as of now.

But it seems like awhile back. Somebody said you cold use the Mcgauhys Deluxe kit and machine the spindles to work with the 4wd trucks. But don't hold me to that. I may be thinking wrong on that.

Not really a problem at all if you only do a 2/3 or a 2/4 drop kit. You can do the Geound Force 2/3 kit which changes the front springs or the McGaughy's deluxe kit which changes the spindles, both work just fine with the 4wd. Any lower and you can start having CV joint issues.

We're -2" in the rear and pull this ***** around all summer, with a stock-like ride.
At -3", even with air bags, you're riding near/on bump stop if you're near payload capacity. I did that for a week long camping trip, and was not fun. Raised it up an inch and she's happy as a clam.
