Hello all. Just picked up a new Ram 1500 Laramie 2x4 three weeks ago. I've been driving Chevys for most of my adult life (60 yo) and never owned a Dodge. Recently I've found myself trading Silverados every 2-4 years. Up until three weeks ago I had a 2014 Silverado Crew Cab LTZ Z71 LT2 5.3L 4x4. A very nice truck. But the mileage was getting high and I had an itch. My co worker had bought a new 2016 Laramie and I had riden in it several months ago and thought it was very nice. So....
I started looking. Nothing serious but looking. A new Silverado with what I wanted was to rich for my blood. My logical up grade for the Chevy was a 2500HD. $60k. So I kept looking week after week just trying to find the right deal. I remembered my ride in the Ram and decided to look at a Dodge site.
I found a dealer in ATL, Mall of Georgia, that had a great discount on a Ram. $12k off list. It did not have 4x4 but several other items I really wanted. Sun roof, 20" chrome wheels, nav., cooled seats, built in trailer brake control, spray in bed liner, bigger engine 5.7, dual exhaust, locking tail gate. I was also impressed with the rear storage flooring and in floor cooler design. The coil over shock rear suspension was
different.
So I went on line and made a deal. The dealership was very good and honest and I would recommend. I drove to ATL from Tallahassee, Fl and picked up the truck. No issues, no bait and switch, no monkey business. Great experience. Also the trade in value they gave me was on the very high end of KBB.com.
In summary, I'm driving my first Dodge Ram and I'm very happy. It is vastly different from the Silverado. Drive quality, comfort, features and value are all better in the new Ram. MPG is better (due to no 4x4?) but the 5.7 is bigger. I love the nav/audio center. A big upgrade from my last truck. Small differences in other areas are to many to detail but they all are above and beyond the Silverado.
I'd highly recommend any current Silverado owner at least look at and test drive a new RAM. I think you will agree with me. I'll post a pick later.
Thanks
Charles
