After getting my truck back from my teenage son (after 4 years of neglect) I found this forum while researching any number of issues that he left me with. After several months of work, and quite a few parts, I'm happy to say that I think I have resolved all the mechanical issues. The truck is running great, and all the vibrations and noises appear to be gone.
Here's what's been done so far:
Upper and lower control arms and ball joints
Tie rod ends
Wheel hubs (bad bearings)
Sway bar links and bushings
Front and rear shocks
Brake pads and rotors
U-joints (vibration at ~65 mph)
Two wheel replacements (one bent and another severely damaged)
Throttle position sensor
EGR valve
Spark plugs
Superchips programmer
Still have some bodywork to do, as well as cleaning up the inside. After that, some customization. Hoping to have this truck for many more years.
