We just drove home with a 2017 Big Horn QC, I'm looking into a front end 2" lift - nothing too radical, just something to help the air dam clearance a little - should I be concerned about voiding my warranty?

My local shop is quoting me about $1200 for a Zone 1 lift kit - control arms, etc. I'm not really a DIY'er, especially on a new truck. He suggested that a simple spacer lift wouldn't really work (I did that with Bilsteins on my '07 TRX).

Obviously, not even a single payment into this new ride, I really don't want to jack my warranty.

Thx for any advice.

Your warranty on the truck, as a whole, is intact.

However, any damage to other OEM components caused by the installation and operation of the lift won't be repaired under warranty.

And, of course, Ram won't cover failure of the aftermarket parts.

Warranty says cannot be over 2 inches, so you would be ok.

I failed to mention that there is probably a MOPAR accessory lift kit, made for MOPAR by an aftermarket firm, that a dealer can install and your warranty will be fully intact.

Thanks, bud.

Maybe you're referring to this?

https://moparonlineparts.com/1500-lift-p-4454.html

I'm not really sure I want to go back to the dealer - think that would matter?

(Jarhead - think we found the same thing here - price for the 2" is a little more.)

Yeah...lol. I am considering using the dealer and one of these as I have a lifetime warranty on my truck and do not want any problems if anything broke.

Why not just get Bilsteins installed for the front? Mine are set at 2.8” and the total install with Bills were around $550.

I'd go back to the dealer and get one of those kits if I was that worried about warranty.

However, a simple lift is pretty foolproof and not likely to cause any problems. For your truck I'd strongly consider the Bilstein adjustable shocks for the 2" lift on the front. Anything taller and I'd move to a suspension lift vs. adjustable shocks.

My last 3 Ram trucks were 2500 so I used 2" spacers to level them.

Yeah, that was my first instinct, since that's what I did with my last truck. Bilsteins front and rear.

The local 4x4 shop, which has a pretty good reputation I should say, when I asked, sent me the following:

the key is the backspacing of the wheel needs to be 5" to 5.5" for proper clearance to be achieved, i am not sure of the backspacing of the factory wheels, so that will need to be determined. The control arms are stronger and include a more capable ball joint, lifting with the stock ball joint is not acceptable. There is no issue with factory warranty when using these parts

Stock backspacing on the 20" wheels is a + 19.1mm offset.

As far as the warranty, as long as the lift kit doesn't damage some OEM parts, you should be good to go.

My old 12’ 1500
4” Mopar(Superlift) with Bilsteins at 1.4 on 35s. Had a full warranty. Asked my dealer if I bought the lift myself cross referencing the part numbers in their parts book, and then had it installed by a reputable shop, if I’d maintain my warranty. And yes I did. Paid $1850 for the lift and $900 to have it installed. Cheaper than the dealer price of $2500 plus +$1000 for Install, and still kept my warranty

Nice truck, Juvenator93.

Looks like you removed the air dam? That last pic looks like the 'before' shot, stock.

Thanks, she was a looker! I kept it on when I first installed the lift on 34s54188d67175e556afc908abf44136e20.jpg after I bumped up the Bils to 1.4 and got 35s I took it off. This is my current Ram. 15’ 2500 Hemi with a 2” Thuren level [emoji16]0d53b0435d4097a1b9049f53caa78449.jpg68dcf577484a4ac75c7e24ea0b1a422b.jpg

Yeah - I just contacted my dealer. 2" Bilsteins (struts and shocks)/Mopar kit. He said about $2K labor and parts. No warranty issues. He needs a day.

I'll go that route.

$2k for Bilstein struts that are listed as a "Mopar kit?":jawdrop:

Personally what I have done is found a dealership that deals with selling brand new Rams with lifts/levels. Bought my Bilstein struts for under $200 (just fronts) and took it to them for install which cost under $250. Your results may vary, but my take is that if Mopar sells the Bilstein struts as their "kit" and the general consensus is you would be okay under warranty, whats the difference if you find the Bilsteins yourself under $200 and just get a CDJR dealer to do the install?

I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but $2k for a level installed is really high. I mean for under $2k you can do a level, install, and new tires.

It's this:

https://moparonlineparts.com/1500-lift-p-4454.html

Parts list for $1100.

I understand you're not trying to give me a hard time...I joined the group for advice; it's all good, bud.

I'll shop this around a bit. I haven't got the chops to do it myself. :)
