I just finished installing bilstein 5100's on the front of my truck to level it out. I had previously installed the TTC-1223 rear coils and it gave the truck more rake due to the stiffer coils, so after I did some research decided to go with the 5100's.

The nstall was not that bad, I have a compressor so I didn't want to pay someone to do it. When I first drove it after the install I was in 4x4 and got a little bit of a shake when accelerating, but it went away quickly. I then switched to 2x4 being on the highway and never got a shake when accelerating. Has anyone had any trouble with Shaking in 4x4? Also at times it sounds like something could be loose, but I have triple Checked everything and its all tight. I will have the guys check it out when I get it aligned Monday but it could just be me I guess.

Anyway, I think these shocks were the right fit. Don't really have any good before pics, but here is after.

After goin out and driving more in 4x4. I definitely have a shake in the front when accelerating. Is this common? Anyone know of a fix?
Thank you for any input.

Shaking in 4x4 if you set the 5100's to 2.8 is common.

Extreme CV angle does funny things to NVH.

Mine are set 2.1. I can live with a little shake. And even now it's only shaking up to 25-30mph.

I have mine set up at 2.1 and I don't get a shake. I did blow up a cv joint though while trying to pull out a guy stuck up to the frame in sand while in reverse. I wanted to get some more heavy duty cv's axel and joints but the only ones I could find were $800. Still got the new one covered under warranty though.

What are you driving on? Loose dirt, field, gravel roads? As said set at 2.8 they give a vibration sometimes. Shouldnt shake at 2.1, maybe double check everythings tightened properly?

Yep anything over 2" = death wobble

No. Some get it some don't. It's not a simple equation. I've had mine at 2.8 for three years and have never experienced the vibration. And it is a vibration. It is NOT death wobble.

:roflsquared: Some people...

A driveline (or CV shaft) vibration is a known issue with leveling kits on most every IFS vehicle out there.
The truck was not designed to operate in a 'droop' stage for a prolonged period. This is what a leveling kit / adjustable strut will do.

Please note, that while you may only feel the vibration while in 4wd, the extra stress on the CV joints is continual as they are always spinning while you drive down the road.

It's one of the prices you pay to level.

I am driving on a mix of surfaces. Snow covered gravel roads, snow covered pavement, and ice. I will be checking again to make sure it's all tight.

What are your heights at wheel wells now?

Heights at wheel wells are 41-1/8" rear and 41-1/4" front.

I have driven a handful of 4 gen rams and even one had the wobble shimmy shake vibration. I know leveling these trucks is not good. Sure some get away with it but most don't. 3 cv half axles and over 4,000 in front end work it's easy to pinpoint the problem. I will be tossing my hbs 2.5 kit in the trash and going big.

weird. I have the hbs kit and don't have any wobbles. in 4x4, up to maybe 30 km/h, i feel a slight shake. no wobbles. 17K on the level now and no problems.

i researched hbs levels before putting on, and lots of people have had them for over 40-50k and going strong.

Would the High Angle CVs allow for you to put more than 2.8" of level up front?
