So my sticker say's i was charged $75 for the 32 gallon fuel tank but I went for my first fill up today and the EVIC says 50 miles till empty and the truck only took 24.8 gallons of gas?? I was on the phone on lunch break and didnt notice till I just looked at my receipt but the fuel gauge indicates full! Whats the deal? Does the fuel tank say anywhere on it what capacity is? Any tips for when I crawl underneath after work! Thanks in advance!

I have the 32 gallon tank also and the most I've ever put in it was 27.5 gallons and it had about 45 miles to empty according to the evic.

I had the same concerns when I filled up the first time. There is a way to check your build sheet with your VIN#, but I don't have the link to it. I have a 32 gallon tank on my truck, and the most I've ever put in (my last fill up), is 26.4 gallons. It's all there, you just really have to run it dry to put that much in it. My DTE showed 15 miles left on that 26.4 gallon fill up, too.

Same thing happened to me on my first fill up. After a few tanks I figured out that I really do have the 32 gal tank. The EVIC seems to run down to 0 when I still have 4-7 gals left in the tank. The most I've put in at the pump is 30 gals.

I thought I read somewhere there is a 5 gallon reserve. So, you needle and evic might show you have 0 miles and be on E when you actually have 5 gallons left.

Yep, most I've put in was just over 100 litres, and that was with the fuel light on.

There is another thread on this that discusses that the EVIC plays it on the conservative side so you DON'T run out of gas. I read on RAMFORUMZ that a Ram TECH took a couple of cans of gas and ran his truck dry. He drove 70 more miles once the EVIC hit zero and before the truck starved.

Gotcha... so I guess i dont need to crawl underneath and look to see if the capacity is marked on it!

The EVIC is useless as it relates to fuel. MPG is way off on most EVICs.

I just had this debate with the dealer yesterday thinking I got ripped off. He has the same truck and said he has the same problems. I asked him to have his service department look at his. He did. They said there are no markings indicating the 32, however the VIN indicates its there. He had no answers. I told him I was going to run it dry carry a can, and fill it up to find out if i actually have one. Obviously someone above beat me to it. So Im guessing we have about 60-75 add miles to go once reading 0? Does anyone know how to get the miles to empty to reset to read the actual for the larger tank?

I thought the same thing 3 years ago, I got the 32 gallon tank and with 15 miles left, I only fit 28-29 gallons. My 09 had a 26 gal tank and never got over 24 gallons into that one. Based on that, I knew I had the bigger tank in this truck but never gets empty enough to put all 32 gallons in

I'm still on my very first tank of gas. Maybe I'll do the gas can and estimate general mileage past the no fuel warning. Then I can just set the trip meter after the gauge hits zero and drive "x" miles beyond it to maximize fuel.

I did same thing last week. Ran truck down till 50 miles left then another while with light on. When I filled up I only got 28 gallons. I'm thinking they are using same gauge as the smaller tank

Gotcha... it's funny, you don't see that name too often. And, my uncle just gave his Ram to my cousin.

My build sheet says 5 gallon reserve. So if that's not on top of the 32 gallons then 32 - 5 = 27 light comes on warning you. Which would follow some of the comments about only filling 28 on empty.
