37s sure look good.

Too bad I have these 3:21 highway gears that can hardly run anything over 33x11. Guessing I'd go from 13mpg to around 10mpg.....nope

Going to put this truck on the market at the beginning of the year and go with a sfa hd model. Probably 2500, definitely diesel. I get somewhere around 8mpg towing and it hurts the wallet..

Trying to decide on a good gen.. early 3rd gens are my favorite body style.. but I don't know much about the Cummins, yet (give me a week or two to read up)

Any recommendations of what years to want/avoid? Buddy of mine mentioned 2011 ish (cant remember, dont care to look it up atm) had a big jump in torque and pre def. Im just not thrilled about these 4th gens. I like cheap replacement stuff, a lot of build/tech info to be readily available, great aftermarket support, and reliability.

They will fit w/o any trimming. I think you just looked at the picture and didn't read a single sentence .

They are 6 lug wheels.

That's exactly what I did.....hahahaha:roflsquared:

I agree with Ratket, 4th Gen. Pre def....can't go wrong.

you daily your ram dont you? I would go with the newer 10-12 pre def 2500. Gets you a newer interior and less problems. Not so much the cummins itself in the 3rd gen but the rest of the truck

From what I've read the 06's are a beast and easier to modify. I'm no expert though. I'm sure you'll find some good info with a quick search. I do like the third gens as well. Good luck!

3rd gen cummins 5.9 is a tank. i love mine. only complaint is the interior is no where near as nice/comfortable as the 4th gen, imo.

I'd be happy with an older 2500. Also up in the air about gas or diesel.

Don't really need a diesel.

If I were to buy a 3rd gen cummins, it would be a 06-07 5.9. In 07.5 they switched to the 6.7. But like others have stated I'd get a 4th gen. Don't get to caught up on the pre-def if you plan to delete emissions anyway.

I had a 2012 2500 cummins. Awesome truck. Only real issue I had in 3 years were ball joints. I had a ton of aftermarket things on it as well.

Go 4th gen........I had an '08 and '10, the interior is a HUGE improvement. And the 68rfe ain't bad if you know it's weakness. 5.9's are gems IF you can find one but good luck there

I deleted my '10 and it was a beast, sure do miss that truck IIRC, the '10 and up could be deleted and the EGR could be left alone under the hood as the electronics could disable it.

Best Cummins trucks are 95-98. Comfort would be 4th gens. Compromise on both would be 06-07. I've owned every generation, and this is my personal opinion.

06ish would be more in my ideal price range for a tow rig. I can swing a 4th gen if I throw back a few shots first

Ideal mileage I should shoot for/stay under?

Some more reading I guess I should do is something about a number/letter on the engine block I should avoid...?

If your looking at 07s make sure to look at the vin number. That'll quickly tell you if it's a 6.7 or 5.9 without even seeing the truck

Make sure it's a southern 3rd gen cause these damn bedsides rot out from the inside. Knock on wood I've been lucky with mine so far.

06s are pretty solid. Some people have to replace injectors, but mine have been fine. I look for under 150K if it's an auto. I'd say you can go 250K without major maintenance.
