Anyone painted the button on painted proximity handles?

The black button on the silver proximity handles drive me insane. Has anyone painted them before? The buttons are chrome on chromega handles, so just looking for some input.

I traded for a set of Chrome on White handle that has a white proximity button on it. From what I recall the button material was somewhat pliable and did not strike me as something that would paint very easy and stay painted.
