I tried to do a search but came up empty. Has anyone tried anthracite pd on a GC Ram? Does anyone have a link to pictures?

before anyone starts to complain - I do outside sales. I drive. A lot. My last truck had a white painted bumper and it looked like a dalmatian when I traded it in from all the rock chips. I want to do something to (A) get rid of the chrome and (B) protect the front bumper. I've messed with vinyl a little and it's obvious I can't do that on my own and I don't want to pay someone else. Plus, plastidip can be repaired easily if it gets ripped or torn. Vinyl can't.

And paint doesn't solve my problem either, cause then it would require a clear vinyl or some other covering.

Thanks.

I have not seen those two colors together. Yes plastic dip can be repaired but it will not be a repair that will not be noticeable if.that is an issue for you. However it's not that expensive to start over again if you do have peeling

Guess I'll just have to buy a can and see how it works out.

Wonder if it would be better/easier to remove the chrome bumper first?

That is a lot of work. Just tape it off with paper and spray

I used a few coats of anthracite and glossifier on my emblems. The match is close but it obviously doesn't get the metallic flakes in the plastidip.

And in this pic I painted the whole emblem and peeled away the black areas.

Definitely easier to tape and plastic/paper it of, thats what I did anyways.

Would you bother trying to do your bumpers? I always wondered how it'd match up.

I would do the bumpers. My truck is the same color and came with black bumpers. My last ram was red and I turned the chrome bumpers black with plastidip. As far as blemish repairs go, my wife backed my truck into a ricer. All it did to my bumper was push a patch of the plastidip off the corner. I whipped out a can and sprayed right over top and it blended back in. Didnt have to peel and start over.
The only problem I noticed was over a couple years, the plastidip shrank a bit around where the step pad was on the rear bumper, and the color matched trim on the front bumper.

Use hyper graphite pearl plastidip. 5 base coats of black. 1-2 coats of hyper graphite pearl. Then glossifier. In the process of figuring out the glossifier coats but its an almost exact match. Metallic flakes and everything. Doing my bumpers as i speak

So i would probably go maybe one light coat of the hyper graphite. I also wound up doing 4 coats of glossifier because i wanted it fairly glossy. I did 2 coats of hyper graphite and it came out a bit lighter than i had planned. So probably just a light coat and then look at it from there. The light in my shop isnt the best when spraying the bumpers as low as they are so they looked bang on in the light that i had. Still looks great though
