Regular as in like mine? LEDs? Between what I have and CCFLs the differences are. CCFLs cost less. But mine are about 4x brighter if I remember correctly from JJ.

Its all personal opinion for the most part. the LEDs are brighter but the ring is kind of blotchy, where the ccfls are a real clean look.

So........here's the beef. :D

LEDs can be brighter, depending on how they are designed. There are a LOT of cheap eBay lights that have "LED" halos..........which consist of 1 or 2 LEDs in the halo. Example, this set of Mitsu lights I did:

LEDs, on:

Swapped them to CCFLs:

on, during the day:

The halos in the Mitsu had 1 LED at the bottom of the smaller halo, and 2 LEDs in the larger ones. Very dim!

CCFLs are typically cheaper, and as mentioned - a uniform look. The LEDs that are done by companies like AAC are VERY bright (almost too bright!) and have small gaps between then. That gap........drives me NUTS.

Personal preference? I like CCFLs. Even though I have broke a few.......they are smaller (if done in a raw ring) and can look quite well on the end of a shroud!

or even built into the shroud for a nice custom look:

yeah, they are probably LED, but when you have 1 or 2 cheap ones vs 50-60 higher quality ones............BIG difference!
