Looking to get a set of 17 rims and snow tires for my 1500

Currently have chrome clads 20's

Im finding that the stock 17 tire size is smaller diameter tire then stock 20?
265/70/17

Anyways any issue running with no tire sensors for winter.

Figured id go 17 as it's cheaper getting tires and cheap rims then 20 inch tires and would have to swap tires every season so better to have 2 sets.

400 seem reasonable for snow tires on steel 17 wheels. 75 percent tread left

Do snow tires really help.
Currently have trail grapplers they are ok but looking for more of a winter tire

It's definitely better for the tires to have separate rims rather than remounting them every 6 months.

I think you'll get a light in the dashboard, but that's it, regarding tpms.

Snow tires do help, they are a tire designed for a specific purpose - winter. Just as off road guys run tires designed for off the pavement, and track guys run track tires, every tire has a purpose it was made for. It's not just the tread pattern, it's the compounds and other factors that go into designing a tire. Even the worst tire designed for a specific category will outgun the best general all purpose tire. You will find winter tires are perfect for what your looking for, winter.
As for the tpms, you will get a light on the dash, but the truck will run the same. As long as you don't mind the light on the dash, the truck won't either.

So they dont make a tire size comparable to the stock 20 in a 17 inch
Seem like syock 17 is a 265/70/17 which is a 32 ish diameters
Stock 20 size is a 33 ish diameters
