I have a sport hood coming in the black primer from the dealership, and they said it would be around $600 to have it painted because the paint shop would have to keep the truck and paint match it with the fenders or something along those lines. My question is this accurate? I thought i could just have the hood painted with the factory paint color and put it on myself.

Yes, because your paint has faded and if they just paint it the factory color it won't match!!!!

You would either need to blend the fenders, or the painter needs to take a bunch of time tinting.
You cannot just buy a gallon of paint in your code and expect it to match. Paint is all mixed, even what is sprayed from the factory. The same paint code on 2 trucks built 3 months apart can have variances in color.

Of course I have to inquire as to where you were able to grab a Sport hood please ? My dealership says it's a two month back log at the least. :(

Just picked up the truck from shop, didn't have to blend with the fenders and colors are spot on

Was at my other dealership who do have the Sport hoods in stock. Told me total with tax would be $1575.00 without painting...

Looks good, and even better that they didn't have to blend
