So as it’s known the reverse lights on our rigs aren’t much to be desired. So I’m probably going to end up putting a set of led cubes under the rear bumper but tucking them up so they aren’t noticeable. Mounting them isn’t an issue at all but how is everyone who did this wiring them?

Do you just tap into the factory reverse lights and power the cubes direct that way or is a relay needed.

Basically , will the trucks reverse circuit handle the extra load put on by the extra lights without popping fuses etc?

I just tapped directly to the reverse wire on each side to feed my LED pods. I had already swapped out the standard halogen bulbs with LEDs so the combined amp draw between the pod and LED light was about the same as the halogen.

Thinking about this upgrade too. I need to find a good hidden spot because my truck is lifted. Don’t want them to stick out or look noticeable. Also I need to find small waterproof new because I have a boat.

I like the ones you flush mount into the bumper but not sure about cutting holes in my bumper

I tapped into the reverse light wires as well. I have these pointed out about 25 feet to the ground and that works real well.
I live out in the country and there are no lights close so its pitch black and these light it up great.

I have mine on a separate switch in the cab. I ran the wire along the ebrake cable.

I've been thinking about doing this also... eventually. I'm sure it's in the other thread, but I like the idea of putting them toward the rear axle somewhere. I believe that's where I saw them. That way, it is hidden and out of sight, but should throw a lot of light down on the ground.

I’ve seen the other threads but I don’t believe it was mentioned where everyone was drawing power from for the cubes. I suppose the trailer reverse circuit could also be used

I mounted mine high and back by the axle. Small custom bracket bolted to existing holes. Can barely see them 10 feet back from the truck. Obviously can’t see them any closer. Wired into the trailer harness. Plenty of light back there now. Can’t find any pics right now to show you
Although I am (and have been for awhile) of putting some diffused flush mount rigids in the bumper. Someday....maybe.

Has anyone figured out the rear cam interference issue yet without running a power line right to the battery. From what I was reading it seemed to be a common problem once the rear leds were installed

keep in mind if you wire them up to come on when you shift into reverse that there MAY be times you really don't want all that extra light. I just mounted up 2 pods and wired them up to an RF receiver so I trigger them with a homelink button.

I’m not worried about having a cancel switch. I plan on aiming mine down somewhat anyway. If someone is behind me while I’m backing up at least they’ll see me doing so.

I did the flush mounted ones. Very clean....
I tapped into the trailer wiring harness. The center wire is for reverse.

Are you guys just using Ebay pods, Auto parts store versions, Wal-Mart versions for these? I'm not going to spend a crap load of money on them, just something that will add some light. I don't need blinding, light up the whole block type of light... just a little more than what the stock lights put out... which reminds me, I need to change my reverse lights as I have one that went out.
