MDS "eco" light

2013 Laramie Longhorn 5.7. I can't find anything in my UC 8.4 radio to turn the MDS indicator light on or off. I've searched all the menus and submenus with ignition on, off, acc. I just updated my UC radio software to the latest version. Might that have removed the option to see the indicator when MDS is active?
I just bought the truck about 2 weeks ago and I thought I remembered seeing it prior to the radio update.

ECo light has nothing to do with MDS in the 5.7

Yep, I bought a tuner in large part to disable the MDS. The ECO indicator still comes on but I rarely notice it. Why are you concerned with the ECO indicator coming on?

According to the manual:

ECO / ECO-ON (Fuel Saver Indicator) — If Equipped
The ECO-ON indicator will illuminate when you are
driving in a fuel efficient manner and can be used to
modify driving habits in order to increase fuel economy.
The ECO display will toggle between ECO and ECO-ON
depending on driving habits and vehicle usage. Press the
Odometer / Trip Odometer / ECO (Fuel Saver Indicator)
button to change the display from odometer to either of
the two trip odometer settings or the “ECO” display.

Yeah it's definitely a helpful tool if you're on a long trip and want to maximize your fuel economy. Ever since I installed my Mufflex DOD14M though, my driving habits have gotten worse! :evillol:

Thanks for all the replies. I have done what all suggested but still see no option to view the ECO light. Ive double checked the radio menu as well as the dash menu. No luck. My truck is a 2013 so the video did not apply. Stumped..

My 2011 has it so does my 05 Magnum also if you use the wrong grade of oil viscosity it may not work.

I noticed the ECO light popped up on my overhead last week, wasn't there before, but I usually drive 5 under so... My MDS has been disabled since I got the truck.

It is under the display settings in the 8.4 uconnect under "fuel saver in cluster". However one of the last software updates made it so you can only see this option after doing a software update.

So the process is this:

1 Update the uconnect system (theres a ton of videos on youtube on how to do this)

2 When the update is finished the 8.4 will reboot.

3 When the 8.4 comes back up immediately go into the settings under display settings and make sure "Fuel Saver in Cluster" is checked.

4 Turn the key off and then back on.

5 Eco light should be in the cluster when driving economically

As far as I know this is the only way to get to this setting. Also as mentioned, the Eco light does NOT indicate MDS is active, it simply indicates you are driving economically.

I did the update last week UC 8.4 update last week. I think that is when I lost the "fuel saver" option in the radio menu. It's nowhere to be found. I've had the truck about 3 weeks now. I think the update removed the option.

The update actually unchecks the Fuel saver in Cluster option and then makes it so you can't see that setting unless you update it again. Kinda stupid on their part...

I think I have the most recent UC 8.4 update as I did it when I bought the truck. I checked the display setting screen and there was no mention of anything fuel or eco related. Should I try to update it again? I checked VIN and it says I am eligible for update but the file looks like the same one I updated with a few weeks ago. Release date 4-20-16
