So I have a 2011 1500 4x4. Im going to do a 6in lift so I can run 37's. Am I gonna need to regear my truck or will I be ok with 3.55? Is there anything I will need to change with a 6in suspension lift? Sorry I'm green and don't know ****. I'm just trying to make a dream come true.

Depends... Do you have the 8spd? Are you going to do any performance enhancement?

I'm running 37's w/ 6 inch BDS, 4x4, 8spd, 3.92, w/ vararam, and 93 hemifever tune. In 2wd launch, I get some wheel spin and have gotten skipping at gear shift. That's plenty of ass to move the tires if you ask me. Probably too much for me since I'm wanting to do the Whipple kit.

I say, if you have the 8spd. Get the tires and lift, but stay with 3.55 for a bit and see how you like it, unless your deciding factor is budgetary concerns. If you have the 6spd, probably a different story, but I'll let others who have more insight comment if that's the case.

8sp dont come with 3:55s

I would do 4:56s for sure, not cheap but your transmission will thank you.

I have the 6 speed. Gonna put a sb cold air, headers, full exhaust, tuner, etc.... budget really isn't a concern. I just want to make sure I do it right and get the best you can get.

I hate my 3.55's, but I have cured it by running tow haul all the time on stock tires. I would say 3.96 and 4:10's are very similar, so if I didn't like the 3.55's, I would opt for 4.56 and up. That will really give you solid bite off the line, and with 37's you shouldn't being doing 80 on the freeway, so using a 4.56 will help you keep your freeway speeds down a bit. All of the guys with the older trucks have to go 4.88 and up depending on the engines. Because you have the Hemi, you can get away with 4.56, but a guy with a 302 would be opting for a 5.18.

3.55 versus 5.18, a picture is worth a 1000 words.

If you are going to gear swap it (which you should) then get the 4.56. I bought mine before Moe's performance had milled limited slip diffs so I had to buy a new one and get it shipped off to a guy in florida to get it drilled out since the 4.56 gears are originally for the 3rd gens, not the 4th gens, but Moe's sells them now which brought the cost down a good bit.
You will be looking at around 3k parts and labor unless you have done gear swaps before and can handle the task.

If $$ is no issue go 456 and throw a 2600 torque converter in the tranny. I think you will need to grind the rear housing to get the 456 to fit but I'm not positive on the 2011. There has been a lot of gear swaps done on this form so you should get some good advice.
I went 355 to 410 and love it, But, if I could do it over it would be 456. Gears are BANG for your buck. I have a 2x4.

Because of the 37's, I would go with 4.56's. You got lucky being a 2011 as you can just bolt in the aftermarket 8" front gears. The 2012+ trucks require an 07-11 axle, driveshaft, and 8" gears which about doubles the cost of the job.

Total cost of parts for your 2011 would be about $900 for front/rear 4.56 gears and front/rear master install kits.

Matt does he need to grind the rear housing to get the 456 to fit?
