Hey friends...I have a '12 Laramie Longhorn with 3.55's. I want to improve towing and all-around driving experience so I was considering 4.10's.

Would 4.10's work well with the 6-speed? Also, will I need to tune/reprogram anything or will the computer and speedo automatically adjust?

New guy here looking for some help.

Thanks!

Find a newer truck with 3;92 and swap that in.
4:10 will be fun but not economical and annoying on the highway

The RT model came with 4:10 from the factory. Depends on what you are towing you need it or not.

A 4:10 diff will certainly improve towing. Your mileage will take a hit though. Expect to lose as much as 20%.

Depending upon what you're towing, you may want to consider the proverbial 6.7l on a 3/4 or even 1 ton chassis.

First thing we need to know is if you have a 4x4?
No tune or re-programing required. I went 355 open Diff to 410 with LSD and it was one of the best things I have done. Hwy speed at 80MPH went 1900RPM tp 2350RPM. Truck performs better all around. Gas mileage got better in town city driving and Hwy I lost maybe 1 or 2 MPG's. If you do decide to swap gears put a Limited Slip Diff (LSD) in at the same time. Very Worth It. trust me:naughty:
FYI I have to 6 speed.

All the 5/6sp trucks should have come with 4.10's from the factory because it is just a great all around gear for those models. With stock tires, you are only going to be turning about 2100rpm at 70mph, so mileage is not going to suffer like so many people assume it would. Pulling power, WOT performance, and everyday driveability are all going to be increase with the 4.10 gears.

Tuning is not required for this swap, so you can just bolt them in an go.

Hammerhead, and Matt know from experence, what they are talking about. I totally agree with what they said.

I have 4.10s, and love them! If i had to drive a truck with 3.55s, l would trade it off.

Thanks Hemi450hp and HammerHead! This is what I was hoping for.

Do it and don't look back, it's still one of my favorite things I've done to my truck. 4.10s should have been standard and the R/Ts getting 4.56s with the 545/65 trans since they have such tall ratios.

If you can keep your foot out of it(will be hard since it makes the truck more fun to drive) you will gain in city gas mileage and keep it at 70-75 on the highway you won't lose any mileage there.
