I find it strange that in the two air filter test I posted Amsoil had drastically different results.

Things that make you contimplate source reliability
That's why I read and read and read and then read between the lines. Whoever is doing the test or paying for the test will always have the best results. Even u tube videos done by Joe schmo have a favourite product. Just gotta make up you're own mind and go with it.

So today on my way home from work and beside me on my right at a red light was what appears to be a NEW 1500 ram truck , definitely newer than mine ...I roll my window down about 3" and his Hemi was ticking like a champ ...

For what it's worth, I can't believe how much better my truck drives on 91 gas. Man, super responsive and noticeably more power. This is gonna be expensive, damn.

I did not notice any change going to 91 on my truck but going from 87 to 89 I did.
Truck runs smoother on 89.

Thanks to some good info from Burla and everyone else I started my turkey day off with a nice Redline 5w30 oil change. I hate the filter location btw.

Over the last few months I've been doing some testing .
I don't see any more responsiveness or smoother running on 91 octane ,BUT on 91 octain I'm getting better gas milage with my 700 lb 4 wheeler in my bed than an empty truck on 89 octain ????

I run Shell 93 but I have custom tuning. I put 87 in it once by mistake and it was pinging like crazy. Had to put the stock tune back on for that tank it was so bad.

Anyways on the stock tune I ran 89 just simply because it was the "recommended" octane.

Update

Well, I am just about at 1K miles on my MOS2 experiment, and it has quieted my tick to almost zero, so I am very cautiously declaring victory. Still get the occasional startup clatter, but it has done that on FF, PUP, and SS, so that's a wash. Unless it all comes unwound, I think I will run this oil to my normal OCI based on EVIC %. Moly doubters should take note.

I am now just a bit shy of 5K of this OCI, and my 6.4 is starting to get noisier. Not full-on tick/tap but trending the wrong way. Plus, the startup clatter is worse than ever. At 5K I will dump this Amsoil SS and once again try PUP(which I already have in stock). Next step Redline.

Others may have different experience, but Amsoil SS has been a flop for my 6.4, and MOS2 appears to have been of temporary benefit. Live and learn.

Redline 0W-40 & 5W-40 is hard to beat imo ...and at 600++ ppm of molybdenum right out of the bottle , no additives required .
Good luck on your PUP .

I am not sure what gas is like in Bristol but here regular and mid grade both have 10% ethanol but super (91 and 93 if you can find it) are ethanol free.

That could be the difference in mileage if your gas is the same.

You are not alone. My 6.4 reacted the same way to Amsoil SS0w40. My startup tic was to the point that it sounded like true hemi tic. And PUP was no better with general engine clatter.

Redline will fix it for you as it had for us all. I know it hard to bite the $ bullet but redemption is sweet my friend. Redline is piece if mind.

I know that the 6.4 was speced for an oil around 12 vis but if i can get good UOA out of an oil that is 14-15 vis.... than im doing that.

JMO.
